True, but difference was back then he was essentially coming off of 3 straight missed seasons with major injuries and There was a lot of rust.

JV will still be able to cover worlds better than a Dre Kirkpatrick or Josh Norman and that's all we needed to win the division/SB. Even if he's our cb3 or cb4 that's all we need to get the win vs the usual losses due to lack of depth at cb year after year
PuP list...

Doesn't his age start to play a factor at some point? I am hoping for the best like everyone else but tempering expectations. Dude is 31. All of those years on IR may have kept the mileage low, but Father Time does not GAF.

Honestly he was a low risk high reward signing. If he can even rotate in thats a plus.

Coming back from a torn ACL at 31, after suffering previous season-ending injuries, shouldn't inspire a lot of expectation from him.
But we signed him to a minimal contract with no guaranteed money. If he earns his spot on a team with Ward, Moseley, Thomas, and Lenoir... I feel good about it, even if he's not as effective as his 2020 self.

My quick Google search says the recovery time for an ACL tear is about 6-9 months. It's been 10 months since he tore his ACL last September.
I think they're doing the prudent thing and bringing him along slowly. I'm very curious to see how he looks when he returns.

Bingo. If the rumor about him practicing in a few more weeks is true, that's right on the 11 month marker. And just enough time to start ramping up and getting back in football shape before the start of the season.

I say WEEK 4 is the ideal target...

Lets go JV!!!!
Crazy to think they could possibly be adding a player of his caliber to this D

Can't wait. They did a great job learning by not relying on him and getting legit talent in front of him. Now he's icing on the cake who's going to push everybody!

Yes. It's nice that this guy is now essentially a bonus if he can stay healthy
