Can't wait. They did a great job learning by not relying on him and getting legit talent in front of him. Now he's icing on the cake who's going to push everybody!
exactly, dont rely on him but keep him on to see if he can stay healthy. when hes healthy hes top 10 easily

JV is a lockdown corner. If he can stay healthy. He puts us over the top. I don't know how many games If any he has in him but seeing him go vs dk and Hopkins was wild.

I like that they know not to (and won't be forced to) put him in a game the moment he is healthy. He can fully recover and get his legs under him as Shanny described it. I'd be looking near mid-season for his return.

Would love him to play at Denver week 3 or else just wait until the Rams a few weeks later (week 6)

Still hoping he comes back healthy. Even if he plays at 80% what he used to be. Hoping we slide him in at slot… the thought of those 3 DB's all healthy along with a healthy D line and lb's… not even saying this as a niner homer but could go down as the best defense we've ever had, and one of the best defenses ever in the modern age

I think healthy contribution we get is a bonus. They've grown to love him as a person, as a leader. If he doesn't play at all, he's made a difference. I'm keeping my on field expectations low so I'm not disappointed. No rush for sure. Slot is my preference as well once/if healthy.
with corners I just hope we have more then our top 2 we feel good about week 1. I could see Jimmy Ward at slot with Tarvarious Moore being the 5th DB and playing FS.

JV is being handled very smart by the 49ers. Guy is loved in the locker room. It was obvious this team was rattled after he went down for the season in Week 1 vs Detroit.
Let him get to 100% and get to in-season shape. It's likely we will experience some attrition in the DB room and bringing JV in when he's ready will be HUGE when we get down the stretch into the playoffs.
Fact is, quality depth is monumental in the NFL. Having a guy like JV on the roster is big. Hope he can continue to get back to 2020 form and mentor the young guys in the DB room.

i think with the CB we have no he isnt needed on the field like he was last year
but if he plays this CB group might actually be the deepest in nfl with a lot of top end talent

Has there been any word on how he looks on the practice field? I'm assuming he's working separately with the trainers, but I'm curious how he looks.
If he can just come back and be good enough to start... I'd feel great because that would mean we have four outside CB's I'd be comfortable with starting in Ward, Moseley, Verrett, and Thomas... And then a bunch of guys that are fighting for playing time.

If he comes back anywhere near where he was in 2020, we'd have two Pro Bowl-level CB's in him and Ward.
Realistically, I'm assuming he comes back weaker, but hopefully still good enough to start... In that case, we'd have four CB's I'd be comfortable with starting.
I'm just very curious how well he comes back from a major injury at his age.

PUP list for the 4 games at least. Pretty sure everyone saw this coming
this is great, dont have to rely on him out the gate, let him get as healthy as possible, Could be a huge boost for us mid season or playoff push

I also didn't know that once you take someone off the PUP list you can't put them back on it. This is probally part of the reason they want to make sure he is fully healthy before taking him off the PUP list.

Didn't realize PUP had been changed from 6 weeks to 4. That's actually quite helpful in making roster decisions at the end of pre-season.
