That's a pretty great sign that they've opened his and Ward's practice window. It's a long season.

Where does he fit in right now? Is he just going to ride the backup role, maybe nickel?

don't think he can play nickel. if they want to give him some reps it's either a rotation w ward or mosely, or they put him outside and mosely inside for some plays

I have my doubts that he'll back to form. Remember when he was coming off another injury and the team threw him out there against the Steelers in 2019 and the guy got SMOKED twice?! He didn't see the field for the rest of the season and half the fanbase wanted him cut.
hope I'm wrong and it won't be the case this time around ,because the Niners are going to need him.
