Hope he stays healthy, dude was locking down WRs

This!! So tired of our DB not looking back when

That's a product of Saleh. He believes in playing the receivers hands rather than the ball. That's the guy we decided not to fire this off season.

It's not an uncommon practice, but I hate it as well. How the eff are DB's catching interceptions if they're looking at the wideouts hands?
Agreed ×2. Its really freaking annoying to see our DBs never looking back for the ball and constantly wondering why they get called for pass interference. I'm always saying to myself on game day that if they'd just looked back for the ball, there wouldn't be half as many penalties called on them. I'm sure most of us do that though, the face guarding is infuriating.

Don't worry. Saleh will ensure Verrett never looks back again!

You're all wrong, the technique of playing the hands instead of the ball is a last resort. Saleh has said it many times and so has Sherman, if you stay in the hip pocket "in phase" like you're supposed to, then you can play the ball.

This is not on Saleh.

BS. Saleh has said specifically that the 49ers teach exactly that, reading the hands. Sherman has supported that.

The proper technique is staying in phase and playing the ball, if you fall behind into trail you play the hands, not my fault you don't understand.
thl, jd, and myself have tried explaining it over a bajillion times on here, Mac, but people don't want to listen.

If it makes you feel better I listened, which is why I now understand!

Nick Saban breaking down the same exact technique the CB are taught here. Belichick, Fangio, Zimmers, etc all teach the exact same s**t. If you want to blame anyone, blame Saban and Belichick because their fingerprints are all over this scheme.

@11:14 Saban talks about fundamental corner technique
@13:08 Saban talks about looking for the ball when in phase, playing hands+eyes and NOT looking for the ball when out of phase

Obviously there is a disconnect somewhere since we had the least amount of interceptions in the league

I don't believe the problem is all on the players I feel it is on coaching

It's not a disconnect, it's a symptom of two intertwined issues, our corners aren't good enough (yet) to stay in phase for long, and are having to cover for too long due to lack of pressure.

Hopefully both these issues will be fixed next year.

For all of you that might not think this signing is great here is the one reason you can take that it is a excellent signing. He actually turns his head around to make a play on the ball

Is that actually allowed?

Nice Brodie

Frozen, it's still not allowed but I'm glad that Sherman and Verrett don't listen to our coaching

You're already beat if you're trailing.

Excellent video!
As our own WRs improve, with their speed, our DBs should improve as well.

The disconnect is bad and or young corners losing position and ending up immediately in trail. When you are never in position you never have the luxury of playing the ball.

When ball in the air is called are they trained to immediately try tolocate the ball in flight?
