When was 34 retired?

i know 97 was used recently, even though i think BY deserves that number to be retired.

Like i know he wanted to use 21, but he knows that's franks number and asked his agent who said the niners want to talk to Frank Gore first about it.

Frank must have not approved on it.

But the way i look at it is, at least it's a CB wearing 21 and not another RB.

Joe Perry's number 34 has been retired for a while.

Dude seems like a douche. He comes to a new team, not having done crap in 3 years. Essentially an injury ridden bust, and starts demanding unavailable numbers? Who does he think he is? Tries to get Gore's number, then demands to wear a retired number until the regular season when someone gets cut? I hope HE gets cut. SMH.

Just pick an available number and prove you have any career left dude.

What? The dude only seems like a douche if you want him to seem like a douche. Why should he not ask for any number he wants? It is up to the team to agree it or not. And I don't see he has been "demanding". Clearly, you don't like him. Personally I hope he prospers.
We have too many numbers retired anyways. They been too trigger happy retiring numbers over the years.

Who gives a s**t about Joe Perry. Honestly.

No. lynch will retire it

Underrated comment
Did Verrett participate? Just making sure he didn't get injured putting his cleats on.

You could have retired every number from the 80's. I think they should just put the players names in a ring of honor around the stadium instead of numbers. Eventually your going to run out. It's only natural for kids and college players to wear the number of their hero. It's not right to tell them they can't have it when they get to the pros.

Agree. Worthy player and associated number in the ring of honor and the number is free to be used again. Of course there are some players deserving of retired numbers, but at some point a good organization will run out of numbers. A Ring of Honor solves that problem.

For real. He could be one of the biggest additions if he even sniffs 90% of his peak self.

Indeed. I said earlier, Verrett may be the difference in this team being a top-10 D. We already know what the front 4, our ILBs, and Sherman should do. If Verrett plays up to his level, this could be a great season. Add in that punter and yeah, it could be 1981/2011 all over again.
