Take an all pro quality corner and move him to a brand new position that he does not fit at all at. Acting like playing Safety is just like cornerback or that Sherm would even accept being moved to safety. Show me more than Charles Woodson and Rod Woodson who have transitioned to safety successfully.

Sherm talks transitioning to safety

Darrel Revis talked about it as well. It doesn't mean these guys who are great corners can do it. It's possible but I would rather we just keep him at a position he is still great at rather than put him in a new position.

I completely agree, it was a response about if Sherman became our worst cb in base personal. I definitely think Sherman has the intellect to convert to safety, fairly easily.

He was interviewed on NFL Radio on Sirius XM today. He said his Achilles is feeling good, and he'll definitely be ready by the start of the season.

Dude if he can actually stay healthy this yr that would be huge.

He was so good when healthy.

Would be amazing to actually have the conversation that Sherman is our worst cornerback in base personnel

If that's the case, move Sherm to FS and ball out.

3 - 9erReign, Chaz Boner, and this one.
In order for Sherman to move to safety in the future, we have to first find two starting CCs first. The other is that he doesn't have the speed to play our FS, but he does have the ability to play SS, if their is a transition, I think it is easier to go from CB to Safety, because you know what a CB is supposed to be doing, you do have different assignments and read things differently, but you see the field better.

I made the comment about how if Verrett played as well as he is capable of playin and Sherman stayed the same Verrett would be our better corner. Wasn't a slight at Sherman it's how highly I think of Verrett. It would be like having an A- and an A at CB. You don't move the A- to FS and start a D- (spoon)

If we got that level of corner play, I'd like to see more blitzing.
If Sherman and Verrett stay healthy they'll transform our defense. The added pass rush is going to significantly assist the secondary, but having a legit top-tier CB opposite Sherman would be a game changer.

That spot has been a revolving door of disappointment, especially on 3rd downs. It's never a secret who's getting picked on in key moments (Spoon, Moore, insert warm body).

A healthy Verrett would do wonders for this team. We have a playoff defense with 2 stud CBs. Throw in Kyle's offense and we're in the hunt come December.

Verrett will go down as a move no one remembers or a signing that makes Lynch look brilliant. I'm hoping for the latter.
I am not against this signing. But there are a lot of questions. Too many questions for me to be optimistic.

Can he stay healthy?
How much speed and agility has he lost?
How much skill has he lost just for playing so few snaps in the last several seasons? He play 1 game in 2017, and last 1 day in the 2018 training camp. He hasn't been playing football for a long time.
I like this guy. But he's not gonna be the opening day starter over Witherspoon opposite of Sherman. Sure, Witherspoon is still developing, and he still has a lot of skills he needs to develop. But keep this in mind: he was a 3rd round pick for a reason. If Shanny & Co. wanted top production out of that position they should have drafted or signed a top CB producer. Period!! Jason Verrett, while talented, is just too injury prone, and his smallish body won't hold up for this physical 4-3 LEO-style defense that demands CB's to tackle, and tackle often. Jason Verrett's frame isn't made for this style of defense, at least not on the outside.

Ahkello Witherspoon will be the opening day starter. If anything Tim Harris is a dark horse that has a real chance of starting outside opposite of Sherman, IMHO. At best Verrett will compete at the slot CB position, and even then I'm not too sure he'll beat out K'Waun Williams.

Sherm running side line to side line as a single high FS

Not something fun to think about.
