Verrett plays outside, so Williams is safe.

It's Ahkello who will get supplanted by Verrett.

Verrett can play the slot. Williams is no lock to make the team.

Willaims is a better slot corner than Ahkello is an outside corner.

That said, I've been following the AZ camp reports, and they're practicing heavily out of 4 and even 5 WR sets. It looks like we're going to need every body we've got.

I am just stating that Williams is no lock to make it to this team. You seem to think William is a lock to this team and I disagree.
I am not arguing whether Ahkello will be a better outside corner or not than Williams will be at the slot.

And why do you believe our most consistent corner might be cut?

This. Williams was our best corner last year.

Saying he is no lock to make this team doesn't mean I think he will be cut.

I know people like to be way over confident as if they know much more about this team than Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch. This is not how the world works.

If I think Williams has 75% chance to make this team, I won't call this a lock. I would say he has a good chance to make this team.

To me your question is very odd, as if there is nothing between lock and certainly getting cut. As if a player can't be on the inside looking out, on the bubble, or on the outside looking in. I refuse to answer such an odd question.

He's saying he's on the bubble. I disagree with that I think he's a virtual lock. Now if Witherspoon shows up still shying away from contact I think he will be on the bubble.

I said you think he MIGHT get cut. Which is exactly what you said phrased differently.

The only "odd" thing is people like you who could actually form a decent argument but chose to dance around being questioned about your belief. There's nothing wrong with saying you think Williams MIGHT be cut this year, but hearing your reply it makes everyone think you don't really have a reason for your claim.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Williams is a very good slot corner, he's better than a lot of others around the league. He ain't goin' nowhere.

Nope, that is not exactly what it means. He is talking about degrees of probability.

And saying that he is no lock to make the team implies significant doubt about his chances. That is why people use expressions like that. Personally I think he is a lock to make the final team unless injury intervened or unless he totally screws up TC and the preseasons.

It certainly implies doubt, but not necessarily significant doubt. The point is that "not a lock" factually is not the same thing as "thinking he will be cut". It's more like thinking he "may" be cut. There is a difference.
Personally, I highly doubt he gets cut either.

You think our best corner only has a 75% to make the team? Lol. I guess Buckner or Kittle arent locks either.
