Kyle tried but could not lure a decent DC to work for him. So he was stuck with Saleh. I agree that Saleh is third rate, I believe that Kyle knows it too, but he has to show confidence in his DC. Hopefully Saleh has learned on the job. Actually, hopefully the whole brain trust has progressed. Because they have not been very good coming in. This season depends on it.
However, until they actually show results. I remain skeptical. 5 - 6 wins max is my expectation. Let the games begin.

Might be a long shot during practice cause Akello is a beast in no contact situations. In the game I can see it happening when his soft play gets exploited.

agree.. i am also just assuming bosa plays and ford will be good to go. if one or both do not happen.. well

well there was almost no pass rush last year so...
denial. they were still garbage last year. with or without a pass rush. safeties are still horrid. sherman is fine and yes we hope jason will play in the first game
Yea, we were also the worst pass defense in the league on passes thrown in under 2 seconds. Pass rush has nothing to do with that.
Yeah Witherspoon was awful he was beat so much there's no way to sugarcoat this. Hopefully he improved but we thought the same thing last year, and the pass rush will make him look a little better but this is the guy that's going to give up third down completions not Sherman

We need to hit on Verrett more than any other 2019 FA addition (yes, I know who is in that group).
We are in serious long term trouble if our plan is to ride out a 3rd year of an aging Sherman and Witherspoon.
Too much money is allocated to QB, DL and soon to be TE to just get two guys in FA. Even drafting a 1st round CB will take time to pan out. This is a playoff team right now. We need vets who can win at CB.

Unfortunately, I don't think he'll start, even if available. I think he'll be eased back in, dude hasn't played in a long time. We stuck with Akhello until then
