I am not advocating it but when you look at it who are you going to get with two pics in the high 20's low 30's that's going to be better than Ramsey.
Were those the only two plays Verrett was in on?

No point in picking them apart...it was just awful. I sure would be reluctant to use him again if that is the best he can show in practice.. was he really showing he could cover in practice? Or was he just used in stopping runs?

Hopefully you get the O liner help everyone has been screaming for. Maybe a DB that is really good and will cost less. You never know but that's part of football. If we traded for Ramsey could we afford to keep him without losing some key players?

that's true but i just don't think we have the talent to give up yet. We're not going to give up 2 firsts, that price is too high. I don't think we have anyone the jags would even want. We are a young team playing well at the moment but we still have holes to fill. Maybe if this situation happened 2 years from now i would say we actually have a chance of getting him.

Good point but they are 3-0 versus 3 teams that have a combined 1 win. It's way to early to assume there picks will be in that range over the next 2 years. Not to mention paying him 18 to 20 million a year. Plus needing to extend Buck. That would mean no 1st or 2nd rounder in 2020 and no 1st rounder in 2021. Leaves us wiht very little capital to replace aging vets and guys we couldn't afford to keep after signing Ramsey.

That is the problem I keep having with this is the hopefully you find a couple of players at the end of the draft. In Ramsey you already have the IT player. Regarding the signing of players the only must sign players in my perspective is Kittle and Buckner and they have a little time to do that. There is always restructuring and the salary cap is going up. I would be very tempted to pull the trigger. Kind of has that Dion signing feelings to it except this time they get to keep him for an extended time.

i would never give up two first round picks. ok next year.. we need a guard and that is not debatable. we could need a pass rusher if fords knee goes out. but we do need a cb. i have no faith in ward. i do love jason v and am all for giving him another shot. but i think i could part with a number one to give his this type of a guy. despite 3-0 i understand we are not an elite team by any means. but we do have holes and this guy would take care of a big hole back there we have been patchworking and hoping guys can do the job
Do you really think Ramsey is going to be the difference between an 8-8 season and a 12-4 season. He's a great player but we have to many areas that need to be addressed. With no draft picks in the first 2 rounds we would need to find a quality guard in free agency and you always overpay for them. Where would the money come from? Ramsey has stated that he wants to be the highest paid guy at his position. (what else is new).

I would be all for this if we had the extra draft picks or if we were set at every other spot. We need to rely on our pass rush to help our DB's this year and see what we can do in the off season to strengthen our weaknesses. We can't go another year hoping our line holds up and Jimmy doesn't get hurt. We also need to find a guy that can replace Staley in a year or two in addition to a quality guard. We just aren't the one player away team that some people think.
Hes not as bad as those 2 plays indicated. I expect a better outing vs the Browns
I'm sure glad we have Lynch and Shanahan knowing how to build a team instead of Snyder and our fans.

Hope so, he looked cold out der after not playing 3 years., He needs to take them training wheels off quickly. Better now than in a playoff game.
I would give up 2 1sts for Ramsey. That makes sense just not for us. I agree with the comments above. We will need to address T, G, CB, WR and the pass rush depth. To many holes. This team has a chance as is this year.

No need to mortgage the future for one player. You do that then you are left with FA where you overpay for almost everyone and almost all them aren't worth it. Then you can't extend your guys. Look for who might be available for a 3rd, 4th or 5th round pick.

Ramsey is a heck of a player though. I'm more than willing to see Verrett and I think he bounces back he's played almost no football. Give him some time.

I would trade our 1st for players like Ramsey/Fitzpatrick in a heartbeat

But only one first. Two firsts is excessive

Same trade the Steelers did with dolphins sounds good to me
