If Ward would quit breaking his arm he'd probably be the starting FS.

I don't think Kyle is sold on Taylor in the slot. I was surprised when we drafted James until I found out about Trent's surgery. Either Taylor seriously regressed last year or he never fully recovered. He might not be able to take a NFL pounding every week. I like James, but I feel Matthews would be an upgrade. I would play Matthews in the slot (primarily but not exclusively) and draft Deebo to play Z.

But Matthews would also be an upgrade over Bourne at Flanker. If we do play Matthews at Z, it would allow us to take a FS at #36. This could be the plan.

Should have sign Jordy Nelson

He's too well known for this FO. Can't have any stars or past stars on offense for some reason.

Dude is old and just a name at this point.

Man i remember wanting him in the draft. Has had a ok career so far.

He isnt the #1 we are lacking but at least he has some size. Good pickup.

Personally, I hope he's like Goodwin. Previously he was just an average WR, but pair Goodwin and Garappolo with his arm and accuracy, and he was lights out. Hope it's the same for Jordan, and keep in mind Kyle's has been able take UNdrafted offensive players and make them look good. How about *drafted* players with talent that were in a bad system? Hope it works out for Kyle.

Matthews had crap qbs in buffalo throwing to him, jimmy G throwing could be very good for matthews

Meh signing.

Every signing doesn't need to be a star player or even a starter. This signing gives us depth at WR and creates competition. I feel that one of our biggest issues last season was our lack of depth and this allowed some players to become complacent because they knew their jobs weren't on the line.

Our depth at WR starts at our #1 or #2. Either of them would be depth on any other team.

That will happen to you when you play with poor QBs. That time in Buffalo with Tyrod Taylor was

Ehhh, assuming health there's not a team in this league that Pettis wouldn't start on within the next 1-2 seasons. Maybe not a team in this league that he wouldn't be the #1 on before the end of his rookie contract.

Forget AB...we're going blood.
So is this guy good or what

Probably a replacement for Bourne.
I loved this guy coming out of Vandy and thought we missed out on him after watching him his rookie year. Kind of got lost in injuries and where receivers go to disappear, Buffalo. It sounds like the guy is healthy and in limited action last year in Philly behind a crowded receiver group, still looked promising. I am optimistic as always. Hopefully, he brings that work ethic and applies it to what Kyle demands with on the details.
According to Pro Football Focus, 92.4 percent of Matthews' targets as a rookie came from the slot. In 2015, that number was 92.7 percent.

He lined up in the slot on 67.1 percent of his targets in 2016 and 73.1 percent in 2017.

His production now is coming while playing on the  outside  – mostly as the "Z" receiver in the offense. The routes are different, the coverage is different, and Matthews needs to make plays downfield.

He is big and reasonably fast. He had some production in early years. It looks like injuries took him down in recent years. Hopefully we can get something out of him. It's a pretty good signing I think.

I think that the WR position will be address with the 36th pick. There wil be good players at this spot to draft.
Bosa + AJ Brown in the first two rounds, not bad at all.
Can he catch consistently? Whatever measurable or immeasurables a receiver may have, that's the essential qualifier. A receiver that receives. A go-to guy.
