I was a fan of him coming into the draft....that said I'll be shock if he makes the final roster. lower leg injuries for yrs.

Really wow. I was hoping he was finally past a lot of that :(.

It may just be the nature of the position. Big WR going over the middle making tough catches, he's going to get banged.

He's fearless across the middle. Catches deep slants with no hesitation, knowing a safety is coming downhill to put on a lick. Pops back up and gives the first down gesture.

Very nice, the key here is for Jimmy to throw it to where the safety misses and Jordan takes it to the house. A lot of times late throws over the middle or bad reads by QB's can get a receiver in trouble. I don't watch other teams, but I've seen it where the WR is injured, but it was because the QB should not have thrown the ball that late and the WR is hi-lowed because of a bad QB throw. When Jimmy was QB, it just seemed we had less injuries on both sides of the ball than when Jimmy wasn't the QB.

where are the people who say. kyle only wants little guys... finally kyle listening to some of us who say you need a big strong guy to get off the line. make hard catches and score touchdowns and not be afraid to get hit... is he the answer? who knows. maybe a rookie., but i do know its not in our current group of wide outs

I still don't believe it.

Until Jordan Matthews is active on gameday in week 1, I'm not gonna believe it. They might cut this guy after preseason, and Kyle will say "we value guys who can separate. Bourne is our #1 receiver".

Hopefully you didn't google it on your work computer
16 of his 22 career touchdowns have come in the red zone. This is exactly what we need. I give him a pass for Buffalo because their quarterback situation was probably the worst or one of the worst in the NFL.

How did he run a 4.46 in college he looks a lot slower than that. I know injuries may have slowed him down but this was a very good low risk signing

So we know KS covets certain characteristics in his WRs- where does Jordan Matthews align w/ that?

He's become a fairly crisp route runner. Ability to create separation through precision and uses his size well.

He runs good routes, he can beat man-to-man, he can make plays on 3rd down (77% of catches on 3rd down are 1sts), he is a good RZ threat (30 catches, 16 TDs; 14 catches, 9 TDs inside the 10), and he is a good blocker.

He was a favorite of Wentz in Philly:
The thing I love about J-Matt is you can put him at (any position), he's going to get the job done," Wentz said. "(And he does) all the stuff we ask our receivers to do blocking-wise. He can make plays, beat man coverage.

Kyle is not listening to us at all lol

Slowly, but surely, they are looking to address some of their most glaring weaknesses. People have to keep in mind, it isn't realistic to address every single one pre-draft or even in one offseason, but they potentially have made up for the Foster miss, got some edge help, are comfortable enough to let Marsh walk, made a decent looking group (our RBs) even better, and added some size to our receiving group. Looking at who we have, Goodwin, Pettis, and James would be locks to me. I'm thinking they are targeting a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd round, but it wouldn't at all shock me if they went another route (safety, guard, corner with their 2nd & 3rd round picks), and just rolled with Goodwin, Pettis, James, Taylor, Matthews, and Bourne next year. Not exactly Rice/Taylor, but good enough to get the job done, especially with better pass protection, and defense not surrendering huge early leads.

I really wish we could acquire another day 2 pick. If only some team valued Jimmy Ward as much as we seem to lol.

And Most importantly Buffalo quarterbacks
I have a good feeling about Matthews performing well in this offense with Garoppolo throwing him the ball.
