They have plenty of guys who can catch touchdowns in the redzone. The execution needs to be better overall but this is just ridiculous hyperbole.
Would Beckham be counted on despite his injuries?

WR Jordan Matthews Is a TE. And now released, again. And a 49er, again.

I highly disagree with this.......but I know what you will say, so no point in arguing.
I don't think having a healthy Jimmy G would have improved our red zone efficiency that much. Certainly, we'd probably be better than last place like we were last season. But I definitely do not think we'd be average. Probably still below average with these current group of guys.

fair enough....like I said before...I am not really counting on him to make the roster.

jimmy had his own issues before he got hurt. most of them were caused by a piss poor line who can not pass protect. the others due to the fact he had little guys who could not catch the ball. il am not shocked that some people are just fine with our current guys at wide out but still. we like our guys and we hope they all come back healthy is not a confidence builder, so while kyle does not like big guys. i am glad they are not setting on their hands on this and i hope we draft a nice kid at 2 or 3

Agreed with this.
I wouldnt even be surprised if he doesnt make the team.

He will be lucky to make the team. He's going to have to beat out at least one of: Pettis, Goodwin, Taylor, James, Bourne and likely a 2nd/3rd round rookie.
Mind you, Matthews is a known commodity in the NFL. It's easy to see the youth and favored son status (all drafted by Shanahan) of Taylor/James/Bourne breaking any ties those players may find themselves in with Matthews.
I think he'll need to ball out like he never has before to make the final cut.

I don't think we should be happy with our current group of receivers. Hopefully we spend a 2nd day draft pick on a WR. I just don't think we should expect much from Matthews or be surprised if he doesn't make the team.
We also really don't have a choice when it comes to relying on players that had injury problems last year. Those players comprise a large part of the roster. The success of the team next season is almost wholly dependent on us reversing the injury trend.

while people like ward set on their ass and never have to worry about getting cut, i would like to think this guy can beat out bourne and james then butler will get drafted and make the cut and there you go. i would like to say i have doubts about taylor but i do not want to be totally negative today so i will stop there

Worth a shot. Matthews like Verrett isn't costing much. If they don't work out you release them. If they do you improve your team. No big deal here. They most likely will still draft a receiver.

thats what i say. i rip lynch all the time but i think these were very wise signings.. and we all know. that second cb spot especially is begging for someone to take it. he could be a terrific find for us. better than f**king stupid asa last year.

I just checked his numbers and although he only had 3 TD catches the last 2 years he was only targeted 64 times. He catches about 70% of the passes thrown to him. He was very good in Chip Kelley's system but at Buffalo and last year at Philly his targets fell off. I don't know what was going on there. Maybe some nagging injuries. Whatever, he is 6'3" 215 lbs and ran 4.46 with a 4.18 cone drill time. That should be intriguing to someone like Kyle. He's still young enough that he could be reborn here and really help. If not, there isn't much downside. I like this better than giving up too much for Beckham.

i am taken in by his size which i think we need and at least he has a body of nfl work and at least its someone to push our current group which is underwhelming.. i understand if you do not take that as a ringing endorsement!!
