Yeah, and he doesn't mention anyone else outside of Deebo and KB as "special". Pretty interesting.

And Mr. Sanders...what do you think of Dante Pettis, the man you were brought in to replace at the X?

if he had any potential. it was only because his competition for the job was bourne taylor and goodwin. when deebo was drafted. when sanders came in. that showed his true colors. which is a mid tier guy whom we never should have traded up for and has been a miserable failure this year as the year has went in regards to seizing his opportunity . he is being out played and out snapped by bourne for gods sake so that should tell his defenders all they need to know
I was disappointed when we jumped up to get him, but then got persuaded by reviewing his highlife reel of PRs and his skill as WR. He looked good. But that was then, college, and this is now. The PR is down the tubes, almost immediately, due to not wanting him to get injured. Oh, so kyle really wanted him as WR. PR was just for show.

After watching, hoping, pleading...i finally give up. The part not included in tape was desire. And there, we got a bitter disappointment. Barring some magical occurrence, i doubt he will be here next yr. What a shame. Just goes to show , you can do your research, but until you know the character and soul of the player, drafting is just a crap shoot and it is hard not to miss on some picks. Overall, kyle and JL get a strong A, maybe A+ for drafting / trading/ FAing. This was one of their few misses. IMO only

Can you even imagine just how good this team would be if we had really "hit" on Pettis? We would be a shoe-in for odds on chance to win the SB. Jeez, just one more crackerjack Deebo, Sanders, or Kittle. This next draft i hope we go TE, in the same mold as kittle, with the same enthusiasm. Yeah, that's a lot to hope for. Still, TEs to me are less risky than WRs, overall in draft. You just hope and pray you get a TE who blocks like an OT, and catches like Sanders. Also, i am counting on Dwelley to maybe become that guy.

I am a convert to drafting a TE who had played OT in college and then his last yr got some TE playing time. That looks like a really good draft background.

Ravens ran 3 TEs a lot, and there is a lot to be said for that formation....esp if a couple of them are ball hawks.

it's even more evident more that pettis' head just isn't as in the game. it's fine to have other passions and interests, but if you're not going to give it 110% towards football you should re consider your career choice and ask yourself if it's really for you

I say yes. Excellent route running, elite separation, exceptional hands. He high points the ball and plucks it at the last instant, not giving the defender a chance to make a play. Great ability at making defenders miss once he has the ball, and his stiff-arm is mean. Of course the question is his durability and health, but I think with how the rules are changing, he's the perfect WR, especially in Shanahan's system.

so was poster memphis
He's #1 in terms of being the number one guy always celebrating other player's touchdowns... But I have given up hoping El Gato will ever be a starting-caliber wide receiver. Right now he just acts like a kitten and plays like a kitten.
Pettis is soft, undersized, and doesn't have a passion for football. He's probably been day dreaming about being a professional cat photographer since summer camp. Hes like Chris Borland, but crappy.

How so?

Last year Pettis showed those traits.

This year Pettis has not.

You assume this year is the norm while Furlow assumed last year was the norm. Why are you right?

I think he's just happy to be here. He gets to celebrate TDs , eat lobster on team flights and get all the benefits of being an NFL player without having to do much.

I didnt buy much I to the fact that he has other interests and I still dont. Plenty of NFL players like to do other things than football. But he doesn't want to be a #1 WR badly enough.

it is more than quik stats stuff. mentally as of late, he seems to be out of it. not taking advantage of opportunities and as a result. we have seen those opportunities decrease while bourne steps up. do you think he just opted to take the rest of the year off? and do we just say ho hum. thats ok. that happens. i think its a simple matter he thrived last year with no actual competition. he has some now and is either unable or unwilling to step up and rise to the occasion. that stuff will get you into a coaches dog house. like it has
