UPDATED NEEDS ASSESSMENT AS OF 4/27/19:
Single High S - Can't put our eggs into a basket that is filled with players who have not stayed healthy nor been great when available.
MLB - No depth behind Warner
SAM - No unquestioned starter
OL - Need another OT of the future and interior depth to help prevent interior pressure and win more goal line/short yardage situations.

Final thoughts: We essentially have 4 or 5 "Big End" DT/DE tweeners (Armstead, Thomas, Blair, Street, Taylor). I'm sure they like all those guys but how many are actually going to play? Someone's going to have to be unloaded, honestly. DJ Jones is very good but the team might be salivating over Quinnen Williams because of what he offers over Jones (pass rush). Why? It's a passing league. The team could easily go with a number of options to upgrade the pass rush quality (Bosa DE, Williams DT, Allen SAM).

I suppose there is some cross-over. We always have a depth chart thread running each year though where people make their prediction for final 53, etc. - after the draft, this thread is intended for those Final 53 roster predictions. For now, it's a tracker leading up to the draft as we add new faces in the mean time.

I feel like depth charts were so much easier to make 10 years ago. There are so many more questions about roles that players will have that it is hard to put certain guys in a box. I think the moves made will make the team better, but I have so many questions:

How often will we see Thomas lined up next to Buckner up the middle? Can we stop the run with them together?

Will Armstead play much as a DT or is he strictly a Big End?

Will Coleman see more time in the backfield or split out wide?

Can Matthews play outside or is he most effective as a slot?

I wish we let Armstead go and bring that 9 million into next year cap.
I would like Jordan Matthew to play TE at times
I wish nfl player-for player trades are more of a norm in ghe nfl. I wish this team trades players like ward, AA, Raheem, etc... to a team that can fill the niners weakest positions. (Cb and OG)

I just can't see how we're going to carry Jet, Brieda, Coleman and Raheem - unless we're only carrying 5 WRs this year. Then who do you dress each week?

They probably figure by the time the season starts one of them will be busted up or have a torn ACL and be put on IR so they won't have to worry about it.

We had four last year with Breida, Morris, Dayes and Wilson later in the season. I think we'll figure it out.

Shoot, what if we had three guys on the field at the same time lol. Split back formation with Coleman and Breida, then Pettis/McKinnon wide, Kittle on the line. Shift to 5-wide if or run it and gash them from the pro set.

OOh, you are reading my mind, and I hope Kyle's too. I was salivating just thinking about all three RB's on the field at the same time. Crazy options for play calling.

Reminder : marsh isn't on the team
I have no doubt Verrett will be starting opposite of Sherman.

This

Also D.J. Reed & Marcell Harris will be our starting safeties
Maybe this year, the back up TE is purely a blocker and they use Juice if they get in a jam. He can see Shanahan trying to get a LB on McK or Coleman.
Reed needs to stay at corner, he was more effective there. We should seriously look at drafting more outside corner help and moving Moore back to FS.

Agreed. I'm all for going round 2 FS keeping reed at nickle corner and have him compete with Williams for the starting spot. Which I think he has a good shot at winning.
Hey OTC.... Is your needs list in order? In other words, do you think the single high FS is now the Niners' most pressing need? I would still put another pass rusher at the top of the list. That stated, your list is great and I agree with it in general. I'm quite certain, however, that all of those needs cannot be addressed in this draft alone...and I don't know how they are going to fill some of those holes before the season starts.

Final question: Can Bosa play the SAM position?

Cheers mate!
