Could see our groupings looking like:

LT: Staley / Skule (swing T)
LG: Tomlinson / Garland
C: Richburg / Person
RG: Garnett / Garland
RT: McGlinchey / SKule

Wouldn't be surprised if Wesley Johnson made a push though. They might consider him because he can play OT as well in a pinch. Same could be said for Magnuson if he show improvement. He can play C/OG/RT also.

OTC do you think Skule can win the Swing T spot from Shon Coleman? Would Coleman be cut then?

I know Mayo is supposed to be an ST assassin, but they seem so light at LB. There are barely 3 guys that should be starting there.

Nickel is played 70% of the time or thereabouts. Some of our DE's can sub in at LB in short yardage. Also the NFC west, we have 6 games against some pass happy teams that pretty much stay at 3 WR set most (if not all) of the time.

This, I'm not worried about the LB group, they have 4 guys who can play LB spots(Kwon, Warner, Lee, Greenlaw) and then Nzeocha could fill in, and Mayo is a ST Ace. I'm not worried.

I think it's within the realm of possibility that both make the team and maybe Coleman actually gets looked at for a Gilliam time of OT/OG role. Right now though, the fact that Coleman was not ahead of Skule on the OTA depth chart has me wondering if he makes the team at all.

I'm thinking they will want a versatile player for the last OL spot is so we don't have to worry about another week 1 2018 type of scenario where McGlinchey had to play guard.

I think the Patriots have gone 4-1-6 and 5-0-6 on occasion. Those are all valid defenses against spread and 11 personnel. That's how much linebackers matter now in the pass happy NFL.

That means secondary. Can the 2020 draft come already? We're going to live and die with Jimmy G. and that secondary this year. I trust Jimmy G.

Totally agree. I think that last piece of the puzzle (now that we got our LEO) is the Jeff Fuller/Cam Chancellor/ John Lynch - Hybrid Safety-Linebacker that can cover and blitz and thump the RB in run defense. If Verett and Sherman perform according to what they look like on paper, that's my ideal first round pick next year - a future John Lynch kind of guy and 2nd round would be going to center (or if not 2nd round) perhaps no later than 4rth or 5th round.

This camp battle is going to be insane especially if Wilson learns how to secure the ball...

Bingo.

Having this much quality depth is a very unfamiliar feeling.
Thanks John/Paraag.

Sorry don't buy PFF's ranking, I'd say middle of the pack, not bottom 10.

Me too. More weight should also be given to certain positions (QB's, ER's, T's) and to a positions where you have the top player already (FB, TE).

Super interesting analysis, OTC. I think Garnett will get his chance as long as Person is subbing for Richburg. Essentially it's last years competition that was cut short due to injury.

Exactly. Garnett is younger, bigger, stronger, and more athletic than Person. The only advantage Person has over Garnett is experience and he's been healthier. If both are healthy, this is a competition Garnett should win. In fact, it would be really disappointing if he can't. There's no reason he should be a worse player than Person now entering his 3rd year in this system.

All their stats are compiled over how long? The 49ers were not very good statistically last couple of years but that does not mean next years team won't be good
