Most intriguing position to me is the WR group, I think they keep 6, figure locks are Goodwin, Pettis, Samuel, Hurd, then it's Taylor, Mathews, Bourne, James ? I think Taylor and Mathews make it, I really like Bourne too tho..

What about this?

TE: George Kittle; Levine Toilolo & Jalen Hurd
XWR: Dante Pettis; Marquise Goodwin
SWR: Trent Taylor; Richie James
ZWR: Deebo Samuel; Kendrick Bourne or Jordan Matthews

I was thinking of Hurd at TE but idk if he's taken a snap in camp with the TE group, would be a lot to ask a rookie to understand the playbook as a WR and TE..
I have not really heard anything about Kaden Smith. Doesn't really seem like hes standing out much compared to Toilolo and Ross Dwelley who are making plays. I hope the Niners don't keep him as backup TE just because they drafted him.

Goodwin isn't going anywhere, his base salary is fully GTD, and he has the speed KS loves, no one else on the roster has it. Smith and Hurd are locks IMO, no way we cut our 3rd rd pick.

Smith is far from a lock. Right now he doesn't make the team

He's slow and stiff. That's why he fell so much in the draft

I like this and I think Mathews is odd guy out. James and Bourne have multiple years in a very complex offense. Can't throw that away easily.

What's interesting is that a while ago, Barrows noted he needed to check up on the TE label. You kind of have to declare it, use certain numbers, etc. Your #1 is Kittle, your #2 blocking Celek-like-TE is Toilolo and your #3, if ever active, will be a pass catcher...Dwelley, Kaden, Hurd, etc.

The slot position is going to be a whore house this year. Everyone gets a turn.

Kyle is going to use it to exploit defenses with all different types of personnel. I can't wait.

I don't see shanahan putting Hurd and/or Kaden on the practice squad thought.

I really want Matthews to make the team but that probably means Kendrick and James might not make the cut
Based on everything I've read and seen, the 6 WRs I want to see make the team:

Dante Pettis
Marquise Goodwin
Trent Taylor
Richie James
Deebo Samuel
Jalen Hurd

With some guys still limited, it seems like a few will get stashed early on, until they really decide who is going to make the team. Garnett, McKinnon and Hurd might get tucked away early on? They aren't going to be able to hide guys like Street or Taylor on the practice squad.

Yup...and make sense from the skill sets typically required of the X, Y, Z.

One goes down...
Post Dallas game...
