Besides, even if someone wanted to give a 2nd rd pick... I'd still want to pass on that. I just feel QBs are too important. Ones who actually show potential.
Mullens is a fine backup. He ain't worth a 3rd or higher, and he never will be because of his limited arm talent. I think his head is just an inch away from the ceiling. I don't see him getting much better going forward. He won't be getting many reps with us anyway, hopefully.

Makes sense, I probably should have went with Toilolo to be safe. But I still think James would likely make it through waivers. There's a reason why we needed to upgrade the WR position. James' ST ability is his biggest selling point.
I wouldn't take the chance of losing James, so cutting a veteran who would go through waivers makes most sense.
QB (2): Garoppolo, Mullens -- Beathard Cut
RB (3): Breida, Coleman, Mostert. (Mckinnon (IR)
FB (1): Juszczyk

TE (3): Kittle, Dwelley, Smith
OL (9): Staley, McGlinchey, Young, Tomlinson, Richburg, Person, Garland, Garnett, brunskill
DL (10): Bosa, Ford, Buckner, Armstead, Thomas, Day, Jones, Blair, Moore, Taylor
LB (6): Warner, Alexander, Greenlaw, Mayo, Al-Shaair, Lee
CB (5): Sherman, Witherspoon, Verrett, Reed, Moseley,
S (4): Tartt, Moore, (Ward(Saftey/Corner), Colbert

This is what I think would happen 😁

You're missing K'Waun Williams.

If Garoppolo has to miss time for any reason, and we don't have Mullens? Were not going to win any games. Thats not an option for Shanahan and Lynch again this year.
If JG goes down, the season is over. Mullens would win a handful of games, that's all. He wouldn't lead us to the playoffs.
So when did you become Madame Sonya? With this roster, the defense will be dominant and Mullens is a perfect QB for that type of situation. He makes very few mistakes and is very accurate. He's also very good on the rollouts. He's capable of taking us to the playoffs. CJ -- not a chance.

Get rid of Mckinnon, can't keep waiting on the sidelines for a possible comeback in my opinion. Considering Breida is also susceptible to injury , Coleman has proven to be more of a durable workhorse and can handle the pace. I also want them to get rid of CJ Beathard and I hope keeping 3 qb's is a smoke screen to entice trading CJ not Mullens and K. Street, if that is serious we need to do away with him too. Tired of these guys collecting a check, s**t put me in coach ill tear an acl or break a bone! Lastly, J. Ward, who will most likely be injured mid season and hasn't proven to be durable but plays hard
! Gonna be interesting to see who they can stash and hopefully trade. We need W's this year!

McKinnon isn't getting cut, he's due $2.6M in 2020(injury guarantee), and that would hit either in 2019 or 2020.
Ward won't be on IR to begin the season.

I disagree. Mullens will have a better supporting cast along with a better defense. I say he is able to hold the fort down into the playoffs and maybe win one. He reads the opposing defense second to none on our team (even Jimmy). Although, not close to the arm talent as Jimmy, Kyle would game plan around his inefficiencies.

Mullen's could win us a game in a pinch (a.k.a. backup QB) but he's not righting the ship if Jimmy G goes down.

Hope we don't find out but I think he would be as good as a Case Keenum with a better play caller.

That's great news IMO. I was never really pumped on Mckinnon in the first place. I did want to see what he could do in this scheme though. It looked good on paper and sounded good in theory but the proof is in the results. Sounds like Malcom Smith all over again.
High priced free agent doing a whole lot of nothing

If Wilson isn't on the 53, it should only be because he's been traded to a RB needy team. Wilson brings the power that our other runners lack. Breida, Coleman, and Mostert all have blazing speed so I think it'd be a nice balance.
