That's great news IMO. I was never really pumped on Mckinnon in the first place. I did want to see what he could do in this scheme though. It looked good on paper and sounded good in theory but the proof is in the results. Sounds like Malcom Smith all over again.

High priced free agent doing a whole lot of nothing

If Wilson isn't on the 53, it should only be because he's been traded to a RB needy team. Wilson brings the power that our other runners lack. Breida, Coleman, and Mostert all have blazing speed so I think it'd be a nice balance.
Agree with all 3 of you.

Mostert runs with good power himself. He usually goes forward when tackled not straight down or knocked backwards.

So when did you become Madame Sonya? With this roster, the defense will be dominant and Mullens is a perfect QB for that type of situation. He makes very few mistakes and is very accurate. He's also very good on the rollouts. He's capable of taking us to the playoffs. CJ -- not a chance.

Never said CJ would, nor did I say CJ was better than Nick. As for Mullens, I don't think he can put a team on his back. We're an 8 win team at best if Mullens starts all 16 imo. A healthy JG makes us a playoff team.

No, I'm not Madame Sonya. I just gave my opinion. You saying that Mullens is capable of taking us to the playoffs is just your opinion. So if I'm Madame Sonya, you're Miss Cleo.

I say don't put a ceiling on anybody before they've earned it, and Mullens hasn't.

When CJ did show his limitations last year, I took grief on this board for suggesting we try Mullens, not because I knew he'd do well, but because I didn't know he wouldn't. We had nothing to lose, and I felt we needed to find out what we have. We now know he's pretty good, but we still haven't seen his ceiling.

Mistakes happen. Unfortunate that it hasn't panned out with some guys, but it has not been detrimental to the team. Sometimes you try and cover your bases and it just doesn't work out. This regime has built and is building a good roster in spite of any missteps along the way. I wouldn't trade our current head coach for any one since Walsh occupied that spot.

I love Mostert. I think he has the talent to start ahead of Breida and Coleman. He just has to be given a chance. Dude is, I think, as fast as when McKinnon was healthy, or is much faster than McKinnon now - due to McKinnon's injuries. I think if he can prove to Kyle that he can catch the ball and hold on to the ball, he can be a featured back, for sure.

I like Mostert - he'll make a good emergency back behind Breida and Coleman.

I have Hurd on IR designated to return in 8 weeks due to the fact that he still has a back issue which could be tricky and take some time to heal. In addition to that, he has missed a good deal of practice as well as pre season games. The 8 weeks will allow him to heal fully while learning the playbook more thoroughly
.
I just want D Moore to make the team as well as Matthews and rick James b***h. So do whatever you have to do Lynch. Get rid of beathard bc if you are down to a 3rd string an your season is done anyway.

Solid effort but 8 OL seems way too low.

Keeping 7 WRs would be a mistake IMO, especially if one of them is Matthews.

This is very close to how I see it. I'd replace Nzeocha with Mayo as I think Mayo is a better all-around player. I like the TE group - I think Smith is a better player than Dwelley (though Dwelley has had a good camp). Toilolo knows this offense from his Atlanta days and is a very good blocking TE. At FS, I consider Ward the starter over Moore...at SS, the jury is still out on Harris as he's had some boneheaded plays in the preseason - I want to see him progress more from what he showed last year.
QB (2): Jimmy, Mullens
RB (5): Breida, Coleman, Mostert, Juszczyk, Wilson
TE (2): Kittle, Smith
WR (7): Goodwin, Pettis, Taylor, Deebo, Hurd, James, Matthews
OL (8): Staley, Tomlinson, Richburg, Person, McGlinchey, Young, Garnett, Garland

I expect McKinnon to go on IR in the next couple days.

I think we probably pick up an center from another teams cuts to replace Garland.

DL (10): Bosa, Buckner, Day, Ford, Armstead, Thomas, Moore, Blair, Taylor, Jones
LB (6): Alexander, Warner, Greenlaw, Mayo, Al-Shaair, Lee
DB(10): Sherman, Witherspoon, Williams, Verrett, Reed, Moseley, Ward, Tartt, Moore, Harris

ST (3): Gould, Wishnowsky, Holba
