Either he's cut or traded at roster cut down, or he unfortunately makes the 53.

Offensive Personnel: --- 25
QB: Jimmy Garoppolo; Nick Mullens
RB: Matt Breida; Tevin Coleman & Raheem Mostert [-Jerick McKinnon]
FB: Kyle Juszczyk
TE/F: George Kittle; Levine Toilolo & Ross Dwelley
XWR: Deebo Samuel; Marquise Goodwin

[PUP/IR - RB Jerick McKinnon, T Shon Coleman & TE Garrett Celek]

Notable Cuts: ZWR Kendrick Bourne, SWR Richie James, RB Jeff Wilson Jr. & TE Kaden Smith

IR/PUP Notes: Because Jerick McKinnon came off the PUP list in pre season, he must now be on the original 53 and count towards a roster spot to retain him; and then you can place him on I.R. the day after announcing the final 53. C/G Wesley Johnson will be brought back.

Defensive Personnel: --- 25
LE/W9: Dee Ford; Arik Armstead
2i: Sheldon Day; D.J. Jones

[Suspension - LS Kyle Nelson]

KOR: D.J. Reed & Matt Breida
PR: Trent Taylor; Dante Pettis
GR: Raheem Mostert & Tarvarius Moore

Drop Toran, add James, with Taylor and Hurd hurt, I doubt they go with only 4 healthy WRs.

I hope they find a better swing T than Sam Young. I don't think they go 10 OL, I think 8 or 9.

I think Al-Shaair makes it over Lee. I keep going back and forth between Nzeocha and Lee making it. both can play all 3 LB spots, and Nzeocha has most of his deal GTD. I'd hate to see Jullian Taylor cut, he's played well this game.

How about Garnett. Does he make it and who gets bumped ? (Is he not even notable?). I think we take a cap hit.

Garnett needs to be cut or traded, waste of a roster spot, bad bad pick by Baalke. Could have went with Michael Thomas, but went with Garnett, who a lot of 49er fans loved, but never panned out, reminds me of Tank Carradine, loved by fans, but never panned out.

I agree with a trade. I know the team tried hard, even pumped him up last year with his weight loss for the scheme but he's not a fit. Can they trade him before final cuts or does he need to occupy a roster spot ?

I can't believe how big Garnett has gotten. The guy looks way out of shape.

NOTES:
1. As I've said before, in order for McKinnon to be placed on injured reserve, and return 8 game later, he must make the initial 53, so a player will be cut, likely Wesley Johnson, or Levine Toilolo, as they're vested veterans, and not subjected to waivers, so they can re-sign the next day.

2. I went with Jeff Wilson Jr. as he's been spectacular this preseason, and I don't see him making it to the practice squad, he could be a trade candidate, but I'd keep Wilson.

3. I went with 7 wide receivers, as I don't believe the 49ers will place either Taylor or Hurd on injured reserve to be brought back 8 games later, so going with just 4 healthy receivers is too risky, plus Richie James Jr. has earned the kick returner role in my opinion.

4. I went with 8 offensive lineman, but it could be 9 if the team decides to go with just 5 linebackers. Also I'm not 100 percent sure that the 7th and 8th OL are currently on the roster, they will be looking at the waiver wire, and potential veteran cuts.

5. I hate to cut or trade away Jullian Taylor, but seeing as he's now over 300 pounds, and playing behind both Buckner, and Thomas, he may end up expendable.

6. If the 49ers keep 6 linebackers, I like Al-Shaair over Elijah Lee, but Lee has the versatility advantage, as he can play all 3 linebacker spots.

7. Finally, I went with Jordan Matthews over Kendrick Bourne, as Bourne is too inconsistent, but the same can be said for Matthews, but fact is Matthews has the experience, but by having Matthews on the 53 guarantees his $1 million base salary for 2019.

Looks about right to me. I might go Bourne over Matthew's just based on upside... but it's a tough call.

If we do cut SS M Harris I'd hope to land him on the practice squad. Seems like him getting picked up by another team would be 50/50.

I like that you kept James, Wilson, Moore and Al-Shaair

Yeah, this looks like a wrap. I too think they need to keep Wilson now and 7 receivers to start the season. I also went back to Exum at Safety after switching to Colbert yesterday. With Colbert's injury, had to switch back. Great job. My bet is on this 53.
Kyle Shanahan indicated TE Ross Dwelley has made 53-man roster.

Yeah, this looks like a wrap. I too think they need to keep Wilson now and 7 receivers to start the season. I also went back to Exum at Safety after switching to Colbert yesterday. With Colbert's injury, had to switch back. Great job. My bet is on this 53.

Kyle said in his presser we're not keeping 5 Backs. Wilson will be on another roster.

Any chance that Jet gets cut with an injury settlement?im just not sure if he will ever get to the level KS wants with his knee.

He has a guaranteed injury clause in his deal, so no
Final Prediction:

QB: (3) Garoppolo, Mullens, Beathard
HB: (4) Breida, Coleman, Mostert, Wilson
FB: (1) Juice
TE: (2) Kittle, Dwelley
WR: (7) Pettis, Samuel, Taylor, Goodwin, Hurd, James, Matthews
OL: (8) Staley, Tomlinson, Person, McGlinchey, Garland, Richburg, Young, Brunskill
DL: (9) Ford, Buckner, Bosa, Armstead, Thomas, Moore, Day, Blair, Jones
LB: (6) Warner, Alexander, Greenlaw, Lee, Nzeocha, Al-Shaair
DB: (10) Sherman, Witherspoon, Verrett, Williams, Reed, Moseley, Moore, Tartt, Exum, Ward
K: (1) Gould
P: (1) Wishnowsky
LS: (1) Holba

Notes:

1. Quarterback: Think it would take a good offer for us to part with one.

2. Receiver: Bourne's inconsistency could get him traded. Option B: Keep him and play yo-yo with Matthews as needed this year.

3. Tight end: Smith seems destined for the practice squad. Toilolo seems like another yo-yo candidate.

4. O-Line: Skule was better in the run game than pass but don't think he's any better than the vet currently. Brunskill has now played LT, LG, C, and RG this pre-season. Hmmm. If he can play anywhere on the OL, seems like they'd want to keep him.

5. D-Line: Taylor looked weak, oddly. Givens looked decent, but not sure he makes it unless we keep 10 DL.

6. Linebackers: Have to admit, Al-Shaair simply looks like a better tackler and a better athlete than Mayo. Add in the upside and there's no reason to keep Mayo over him.

7. Safety: If both Exum and Harris are bad... I guess we go with the more versatile one? Colbert may be an IR candidate.

My final, FINAL 53 Man Roster Projection

Quarterback (3)

Jimmy G
Nick Mullens
C.J Beathard

I hope we move on from Beathard, either a trade or even cutting him. Mullens is so much better than him.

Running Backs (5)

Matt Breida
Tevin Coleman
Raheem Motsart
Jeffery Wilson Jr.
Kyle Juszczyk

McKinnon starts year on IR. Breida is our #1 RB and I think he will have a monster season if he can stay healthy. Coleman is a really good and perfect #2. Motsart always impresses when he gets a chance and is a ST's ace.

Wide Receivers (7)

Deebo Samuel
Marquise Goodwin
Dante Pettis
Trent Taylor
Jalen Hurd
Jordan Matthews
Richie James

So hard to cut Kenderick Bourne I would keep him over Matthews but it seems like Matthews is basically a lock. Deebo looks good as advertised and Hurd will be a weapon if he can stay healthy. Goodwin quietly had a real good camp and is still so valuable for us. I'm not sold on Pettis and it seems like Shanny isn't either.

Tight Ends (3)

George Kittle
Ross Dwelley
Kaden Smith

I really like this trio. Kittle is a STUD. Dwelley is developing into a nice backup and the rookie Kaden Smith has looked really good, impressing with his receiving AND blocking.

Offensive Line (8)

Joe Staley
Laken Tomlinson
Weston Richburg
Mike Person
Mike McGlinchy
Ben Garland
Daniel Brunskil
Veteran

Hopefully we get a veteran OT better than Young off waivers but it may be tough. Ross Reynolds and Justin Skule head to the PS and I think both guys have a future with the 49ers. McGlinchy is a rock at RT and hopefully Staley continues to play at a high level. We're screwed if either guy gets hurt . Getting Weston Richburg back is huge for the OLine. Tomlinson is a rock solid, dependable starting LG and Person is a solid RG who is very versatile and that makes him so much more valuable.

Defensive Line (9)

Dee Ford
Deforest Buckner
Arik Armstead
Nick Bosa
Solomon Thomas
Shane Day
Ronald Blair
D.J Jones
Julian Taylor

Deepest position on the team. That's why losing Street didn't even hurt and at least we can stash him for another year. Though he was looking really good. Damontre Moore had a heck of a pre season but again with the depth here it is tough to keep him. If he was 4-5 years younger he would stick for sure. Will we ever have Dee Ford and Bosa on the field together 🙏🙏

Linebackers (5)

Kwon Alexander
Fred Warner
Dre Greenlaw
Azeez Al-Shaair
Mark Nezechora

Glad we moved on from Malcolm Smith. Dre Greenlaw flat out beat him out and I love the young LB's we have with the addition of Kwon Alexander. The undrafted rookie Al-Shaair has been a pre season standout and we can't risk losing him trying to get him on the practice squad. Mayo sticks because of his special teams value. Very tough call between Nezechora and Elijah Lee. Could go either way. UPDATE: I have Mayo getting cut now but he gets brought back at some point

Defensive Backs (10)

Richard Sherman
Ahkello Witherspoon
Jason Verrett
Jimmie Ward
K'Wuan Williams
D.J Reed
Jacquiski Tartt
Tavarius Moore
Marcell Harris
Emmanuel Mosley

Looks like Tavarius Moore will be our starting FS and I looooooove it! I think Ward will be our top nickel cornerback before he gets hurt. Sherm is our #1 CB and hopefully Verrett gets healthy and will be our #2 at some point. I'm a big D.J Reed fan and I think Tartt will have a standout season. Marcell Harris makes a terrific backup.

Specialist (3)
Robbie Gould
Mitch Wishnowsky
Colin Holba
