Agreed. Several factors could be at play here. Their may be some vets the FO want to release, to free up cap, but need to get through some of training camp to ensure their backup is an adequate replacement. Could also be fishing around to gauge interest in someone trading for said vets too.

I believe that is not the highest annual salary ever for a defender? I would like 6-7 years, but assume Bosa's agent doesn't since he would be in line for one more big deal down the line.

$186M over 6 years makes way more sense ($31M AAV). $186M over 5 years would be $37.2M AAV. Next highest non-QB is Aaron Donald with $31.7M.

Bosa is gonna get more than Donald got, I doubt it's $37.2M a yr, more likely $34M-$35M a yr.

ya not sure on the 5 or 6 year part, i think it said through 2028 so that would be 6 years if you count 2023
