It happens all the time when it comes to news and politics. Cover some lesser story like crazy in order to distract from the real issues.

There's no story. Bosa isn't going anywhere. Deebo all over again.

I doubt he is going anywhere also. But to act like him not being signed 2 weeks before game 1 isn't an issue is not being honest about the situation. And Deebo didn't hold out this long.
Can someone explain to me why $35M per year keeps getting floated around as a possibility? Where's Bosa's leverage for that?

The franchise tag price for an edge rusher right now is $25.4M. We could franchise tag him three times and still not get to an AAV equal to Aaron Donald's. We could franchise tag him FOUR times all the way to the end of 2027 and still not get to an AAV of $34.2M.

Am I missing something? Bosa is awesome and deserved DPOY but he's still an edge rusher whose franchise tag depends on how much other edge rushers are getting paid, not quarterbacks.

$32M a year is perfectly fair and is a bit of a premium honestly thanks to the Super Bowl gift the Rams gave Aaron Donald last year. $35M just doesn't make sense.

B/c the majority of ppl on this site feels as though he should be the highest paid defender i the league. and that 35 number puts him just above AD. I do get the feeling that the Bosa's want top dollar over AD, and the niners are trying to pay him more than JJ watt but not more than AD. We shall see. But they need to get something done ASAP. When talking these type of numbers the money never makes sense.

Not that I care because it's not my money, but I'm inclined to think bosa should reset the market and be the.newest highest paid player. That's how it's always worked and if the front office is being stingy about it they are sending the wrong message to players.

I agree. Maybe it's something else holding up the deal.

My guess would be that it's something to do with the first couple years and the bonus structure payment, possibly some technical language. possibly length - I could see bosa wanting a four year contract and niners want 5-6.

Rumor was the potential for a Chris Jones deal is a problem.

Boss wants to remain highest paid defender for a few years.

He doesnt want Jones to sign immediately after knowing the terms of the Bosa deal and take the title away

I highly doubt this is the holdup, it's APY, GTD Money, Fully GTD Money, also might be the signing bonus amount, and/or payment structure of the bonus.
this contract is apparently rocket science and s**t

Cant remember who it was...think it was one of the talking heads on KNBR...said Bosa wanted to be top defensive player using APY and GTD money metrics etc.

Not for the entire length of his contract but the next 3 years or so.

Figuring out those numbers is making it tricky and it was stressed Bosa didnt want someone else to leapfrog him.

Bosa wants to set the market and be top for a while
