No I'm saying it's dumb because of what I pointed out
How far apart could we possibly be on this? We have been preparing for this for years now. If we are ridiculously far apart here, I can only blame our front office for being ill prepared.

Yeah, we could technically move forward with him on the fifth year option and then tag him, but that would be catastrophic to our salary cap for the next few years. We would have to do some massive restructuring and/or cut loose some quality guys.

the fifth year option is 100% guaranteed, so the entire amount hits the cap. Same with the franchise tag. So we are already over the cap next year and then adding like $30M would be a bad situation.

we really need to extend him so we can get the cap flexibility to help maintain the roster.

His option is $17.9M (which is on the books already) and the tag is $19.8M. I wouldn't call that catastrophic

Like I mentioned earlier, that redditor is not properly evaluating the leverage each party has in this situation. Bosa has short term leverage only really.

The guy is guessing, badly.

Interesting info on bosa - I also didn't realize that boss and Aaron Donald have the same agent.

"The CBA mandates a slightly different consequence for first-round picks holding out when playing under a fifth-year option, like Bosa. It's a fine up to $40,000 per day and the weekly salary penalty applies. Since Bosa's fifth-year option is a fully guaranteed $17.859 million, one week's salary is $992,167.

A team can also recover a portion of a player's signing bonus. For example, 15% of the prorated amount of signing bonus can be recouped beginning on the sixth day of a training camp holdout. It's 1% for each additional missed day with a maximum of 25% of the prorated amount during training camp. An additional 25% can be recovered with the first missed regular-season game. After four missed weeks in the regular season, a team can recover 1/18th of the prorated amount for each additional week of the player's absence. The maximum a team can recover in a season is the entire prorated amount of the player's signing bonus in that contract year.

Bosa's signing bonus with his rookie contract was prorated through the original four years (2019 through 2022). Recoupment isn't applicable to Bosa because his fifth-year option payment is base salary where there isn't any proration."

we need the $8M we are banking on this year from extending him. I don't think some realize that as of today, the whole 53 man roster counts, practice squad counts, dead cap counts etc. the little room we've had all summer is now gone. We have like a couple hundred thousand in cap space now.

and for 2024, with paying bosa $19.8M all guaranteed base salary - we will only be over the cap $42M next year, no biggie. Lol

Lmao I told ya'll a couple years ago the arrogance of this regime would be its downfall. Trading our future for an unproven, trash project in Lance... letting an all pro Buckner go because we thought a project, unproductive rookie could replicate his performance and now trading the most dominant defensive player in the League.

You can look at the smarmy smiles on ShanaLynch and see they were destined to be crushed under the weight of their own egos.

I'm hoping they learned from those two colossal mistakes. Getting rid of Lance gives me hope. but we'll see…

I posted in the O line thread that Shanahan will win his Superbowl with his next team like Andy Reid did. EGO is why coaches after they blow it the first time get their egos in check, move to their next team to and win it all. Kyle is a great play caller in the first 50 mins but after not so much. If they don't sign Bosa their tenure is very short.

To be fair, all coaches and players have big egos. That is in part why they've successfully made it to this point. If Kyles ego was that big, to the detriment of the team, he'd still be trying to make Lance happen. He didn't. He placed him at QB3 and then traded him even if would make him look bad. He don't GAF how he looks, he's trying to win games.

Don't confuse confidence with Ego. Walsh was confident but not a Ego that gets in the way of Football players and winning. If he wants somebody he gets him only to put him in his dog house for being injured. If we don't sign Bosa, I know he did not fight hard enough to keep him and number 6 is gone. Let's see what happens but this is not looking good.

Tough to distinguish between the two over the internet.it's not like we're in the building. it's all to speculation.

if he was to be traded, what do you think we would be getting anyways hypothetically ?
Wasn't Bosa supposed to be in NY where his agent is? If that's the case send Brassini in and tell the agent black or red ink …….. you're choice! Agents are usually the greedy ones.
all this emotion over a bored basement dweller pranking you all on reddit. well done, sir

Exactly right again, lol.
For anyone who is wondering about that one reddit post, the OP of that thread has hidden or flat out removed his previous posts of 'predictions' in the past and also provided zero evidence about the CMC trade prediction. Zero.

He also weirdly posting about redacting his account in replies....to himself.

Now carry on with your lives.
