and for 2024, with paying bosa $19.8M all guaranteed base salary - we will only be over the cap $42M next year, no biggie. Lol

The top 51 count towards the cap, that was my understanding.

We see teams overcome more than that every yr. Philly and NO have been doing it for years.

For sure signing him helps in the short-term. They aren't forced to move him because of the money either. This isn't a Bosa has all the leverage situation.

So, basically, the chances of him not being here for the Pittsburgh game, either under his current 5th year deal or a new one, is really low.

Best of luck to KC's Jones getting fined 50k each day through Week 8. That's $2.8m in fines.

He also weirdly posting about redacting his account in replies....to himself.

Now carry on with your lives.

I don't necessarily think he has inside knowledge but I also don't think putting your head in the sand and saying "no problems here!" isn't a position anyone should take.

This is absolutely a major issue and because of how this front office has dealt with things in the past at times (not always but at times) it makes me concerned they're going to do something dumb. Until bosa is officially signed, I will have this concern

Lol. I know nothing about Reddit

It might be an issue, but the reddit post should be dismissed. It's not credible.

Lynch already said theyre waiving the fines.

"I don't think that's really necessary [to fine Bosa]," Lynch said. "That's not going to get him in here. We're both striving for the same thing, so we'll focus on that."

During training camp, it's the top 51. Once final roster cut down happens (today at 1PM PST), that changes unfortunately. So the cap room we've had (approx 9-10M - I forget exactly what it is) starts to get used up by dead cap, top 53, practice squad and all that, it all starts to count again.

the best, and most sustainable way to overcome it, is to sign players to extensions that you plan on keeping going forward. So i imagine the way we plan on fixing the $20M hole we have next year is to extend a guy like kittle, armstead, Warner etc (core guys with big hits). That way we maintain the roster, keep the good players long term, and spread the cap hit out.

or we could cut players and try to replace them, I believe if we cut armstead, we save $19M. We would still need to cut more to get the other $20M (if we franchise tag bosa).

overall, i get your point that we are keeping bosa no matter what. I'm just saying the best thing for the team is to get an extension so we can spread his cap hit out over 5 years or so and then start to work on our other key guys. That'll be his we build a longer "super bowl window".

I'm sure there are other ways to clear cap, I'm not a pro at this, but I do know that the best way to stay competitive is to spread out these hits and manipulate them with things in extensions for our core players.

it's guys like Chris jones with KC that is going to get annihilated. Once he misses games, they can start to recoup percentages of their signing bonus. (We can't do that with nick bosa though)
Trading Bosa would be a monumental disaster. I doubt the FO can be that dumb.
