Why is that on the FO?? If Bosa is off in crazy town — why would the Niners meet him there?

Youre talking about week 1 2023 problems when this is a multiple year contract. They are not the same.

He's not in crazy town and if reports that they are $4 million apart then it's a HUGE fail by the FO. Bosa has all the leverage in this situation, and if the team even loses him for 1 week and it costs a game, they will have shot themselves in BOTH feet.

He absolutely does not have all the leverage. If he did he would have been signed by now. The Niners will use three years of control and Bosa missing game checks as leverage. That's real money. Missing TC isn't real money. He can't get it back and the Niners won't add it in on the extension. It's Bosa's decision to miss games. Not the FO.

It won't come to that. But it is clear people don't understand what leverage is. Twitter has got too many people gassed up.

Both parties have hands to play.

Yeah, PER YEAR! What, from $32m per year to $36? That's $20m over the anticipated 5 year contract, over what's already a record contract. We can't do that.

Bosa does Not have the leverage. He's on his 5th year option guaranteed now, and two additional years franchised would Not cost us more than his new contract will. Plus, that way we have injury protection year to year, and Bosa doesn't, and we can still work on a long term deal.

Come on, we're glad to make him the highest paid non quarterback Ever. Take Yes for an answer, Nick. Your royalties will be much larger when you are a multi time Super Bowl Champion.

Well what if that $4M is the difference in being the highest paid non QB ever, or not?

I think the team long ago acknowledged that expectation, so I think no.

Restructure Armstead contract and get the remaining 4 mil, pay the man!

They are probally low-balling him if they are $4 Million apart. Because even if Bosa is asking for $35 Million it means they are offering him $31 which is a low-ball offer imo because it doesn't involve him being the highest paid non QB which is what everyone knew they would have to pay. He's probally asking for 34 and Niners are offering like 30. He's currently the best defensive player in the league who is 25 and just entering his prime and should be paid like the best defensive player in the league.

What if they made a concession up to 40 and bosa still wants 44 a season?
Give him a 10% stake in the 49ers as an alternative to giving him an all time high contract.

When have either of the Bosa Brothers Not held out?

This guy gets it. This should have been expected given how badly his brother wrecked the chargers for all they were worth. And Joey is a good player but he's not the best like Nick.

He's going to take us for every dime he can get even if he seemed by statements last year like he wouldn't

I mean just pay him. People want the best defensive player in football…that s**t is expensive.

Is there no point it hurts the team? He's under contract, and with the franchise tag, for the next 3 years, without "paying him". He ain't going nowhere.

It's all to throw Steelers off their game. He will be signed and activated before Steelers game to make them panic last minute.

jk

but seriously let's get him signed.
"It was analysis, not a report" means he just made it up by making some rudimentary math looking at players contracts.

He could've prefaced his initial tweet with explaining that, but he knew what he was doing.

That Still counts against the cap.

Got to be approved by the league office, or it didn't happen. Ppst. Don't tell Nick that.

After Labor day also makes sense.

Gives Bosa one week to get up to speed, which probably won't be a problem for him the way he keeps in shape. As others have said, most likely he'll be on a pitch count to make sure he eases back into things.

On top of a cake walk no camp you shouldn't need to warm up for the season especially when making over $30m a year (soon). He's not porcelain. Throw his ass out there and get sacks.

No, he's not porcelain - but its a long 20 game season. I want him to be healthy going into the Superbowl.
