Starting to think this holdout will go into the season

Just look at the motivations. SF really wants him to play week 1. Nick really wants to play week 1. So they will reach an agreement very soon. Both sides don't want any missed football, imo.

Yeah they'll get it done and we will find out how petty this holdout was over some stupid language in the contract or guarantees that could have been agreed upon a long time ago with one side budging a little for it, but didn't want to.

Man, this is lowballing, you aren't gonna pay Bosa, the AAV of Donald?

Highest paid pass rusher @ 6yrs/141mil. I don't see 5/$151 mill low ball'n

It's about the AAV, Donald is 31-32m currently. You are offering $30.2. So you are offering the top D player, not top D player money. I would hope you bump this up, or I am not showing up week 1

Damn...I thought it was about the fully guaranteed money @ 90mil. I'll bump it to 95mil fully guaranteed .

I just don't get how you can offer Bosa less aav than Donald who signed way back when. Contracts over time go up, not down. I feel disrespected by that idea, and I'm not even apart of this negotiation. I feel second hand, disrespected lol.

I would lay odds that a lot of people in here who are agitating about Bosa's deal getting done will be complaining about how much cap space the team will have invested in a handful of players a couple of years down the line. The Niners are really walking on the edge when it comes to paying their stars and fielding a competitive team. They are going to have to hope that they can continue the success they've had in finding good players in the later rounds of the draft and be completely brutal about cutting ties with the guys they have already paid when those players start getting a little long in the tooth.

Trent Williams will probably retire soon so that will help. They have already indicated they won't be picking up Kinlaw's 5th year option, so that will help. Arik Armstead is a potential cap casualty that comes to mind. Then Kittle. I suspect at some point they will have to decide between Aiyuk and Deebo. One of the reasons that losing the three number ones they ponied up to get Lance doesn't bother me too much is that the bill's would have started coming due on those contracts next year but now they can use that money on Bosa and some of their other guys who have already proved their worth.

As I mentioned above the absolute key to this team's success will be to find guys like Warner in the 3rd, and Greenlaw and Kittle in the 5th, and Hufanga. This year it looks like they might have found some keepers in Ronnie Bell, and the two LB's Winters and Graham, future replacements for our current guys perhaps, though it would be my hope that Warner retires as a 49er. We'll see what happens I guess. Go Niners!

If Trent is gone and you are letting Arik Armstead walk, there shouldn't be an issue keeping both receivers. Particularly if Aiyuk takes another step forward as a player. I seriously hope we can win two rings the next two seasons and send anyone leaving out in style.

I heard somewhere there's something like a 4 million per year gap in the two sides, 4 f**king million? That's bad

Yeah, PER YEAR! What, from $32m per year to $36? That's $20m over the anticipated 5 year contract, over what's already a record contract. We can't do that.

Bosa does Not have the leverage. He's on his 5th year option guaranteed now, and two additional years franchised would Not cost us more than his new contract will. Plus, that way we have injury protection year to year, and Bosa doesn't, and we can still work on a long term deal.

Come on, we're glad to make him the highest paid non quarterback Ever. Take Yes for an answer, Nick. Your royalties will be much larger when you are a multi time Super Bowl Champion.

Well what if that $4M is the difference in being the highest paid non QB ever, or not?

I think the team long ago acknowledged that expectation, so I think no.

Restructure Armstead contract and get the remaining 4 mil, pay the man!

AA only has two years left. Restructure him and you're looking at like 30 million cap hit for 2024 or dead money for years after he's gone.

I think it's extremely unlikely Trent retires unless he has an injury. We shouldn't let arik walk either - our defense is much worse when he isn't in.

Depends what AA ask for because he isn't worth what we pay him imo. Plus he's on the wrong side in age

I think Trent will only go for another year or 2, but hope I'm wrong. That's why not having a succession plan is so risky IMO.
Just f**king pay the man already

Trent is still at the top of his game and making a massive amount, I think he will play 2-3 more seasons, I hope at least. I think AA is underrated and he does a lot of the dirty work that doesn't get much credit.

im very curious to see how AA looks with Bosa & Gravedigger next to him. They're all going to tremendously benefit from each other, I think jackson will be the biggest beneficiary! Can't wait to watch this group so work! I'm so excited for week 1. Going to wipe our behind with some turrible towels!
Alright ladies, gents. Opinion coming from Scotland again (looking forward to the new season).

Nick Bosa has signed a contract which doesn't expire until the end of the current season. He is contractually obliged to fulfill the role he was hired to do. He needs to stop being a wee b***h, go to training, play the damn game, and if they can't make terms...we trade him week 8. Make back the Lance picks.

This

People forget what AA looked like with a ton of single blocks....lets hope he reminds us this year.

While your opinion from Scotland s greatly appreciated, this is how things work in the league. Everyone knows that and saw this coming, so it's 100% on the FO if Nick misses a game, though I don't think he will. He'll likely play much less the first game or 2, but he'll be there.

I respect the fact that " this is how things work in the league", currently. Doesn't mean it has to be that way. I see some parallels with Commie/Soccer/European football. The trend toward player power...it's not right. You're right in your assertion that..it is what it is..but at the same time...it doesn't need to be.

The 49ers are clearly trying to come to an agreement they feel is sustainable. We've got a squad loaded with talent, and the classic notion is that you peak..potentially win a superbowl, and then you pay for that (like the Rams). I get the impression the 49ers are trying to break that cycle, and absolutely they should be.

Bosa is a generational talent, but he can't win games by himself. The 49ers should do everything they can to keep him...except, forfeit the future.

Let's do a hypothetical...We trade Bosa to the Raiders for Crosby and a..1st?...2nd? Are we that much worse off?
