I wonder how much is pride at making sure he beats Chris Jones.
Hold the line Paraag. They tell me Bosas are tough negotiators so make his ass go the Crabtree route. Stall his ass until week 8 and don't give an inch!!

We will continue to win whether Bosa is here or not. We will miss him but the game goes on Bosa or not. One player doesn't make the team in the NFL. This ain't the NBA

We should offer the top paid salary for a non QB with the appropriate guarantees and not a penny more. I also would NOT waive any fees and penalties because those exist for a reason as far as I'm concerned.
Didn't Bosa say being the highest paid isn't what he's looking for or most important or some s**t like that? They all say that kind of stuff and it's always BS 😂

CA income tax is real. I can't remember the baseball player but there was a $20m difference playing here vs somewhere in the Midwest. It was any eye opening stat they showed.

I live here and my paycheck agrees.

I guess good weather is worth getting bent over by the tax man.

It has a pretty big impact on take home. I don't see how its a non issue. Agents should be advising. Props for the adjustment idea by state.

It doesn't have a "pretty big impact". First off, the players pay taxes based on where they play every week. Secondly, no matter where they play, they pay federal taxes, which is much higher than even the highest state tax.

So there is a difference if you signed with the dolphins vs the Vikings, but it's not some gigantic difference.

Ill look it up. But i think your wrong. Some states have pretty high income tax.

he is right to a point..... you pay taxes on that game check depending on where the game is played. NFL players might pay state tax in 8 states a year, heck maybe 10...who knows its random.

Playing in Cali vs FL guarantees you 8 home games are on the high end of the tax.

Players however have income that is not "game checks".

Players pay their state taxes on bonus and incentive money as well. Reporting bonus-state tax, roster bonus-state tax-work out bonus-state tax-signing bonus-state tax... all of it. Everything outside of "game checks" depends on the state you work in.

it can add up to 10s of millions of dollars on a contract like Bosa.

Historically, this is off set by money made outside of football, with high tax areas also being lucrative endorsement areas.

Yep. Joey said the other day "Winning is more important to me than ever" - AFTER he's signed his extension, of course. Hypocrites and liars.

Highly doubt he's singling any one player out to beat, he wants to be the highest paid defensive player, so that would include Jones.

I'm curious if playing the Steelers and TJ Watt plays into his motivation to get this done before week 1. I would think he'd want to get out there and show the world he's better than Watt and worth that contract, but if he's not there TJ gets the spotlight and Bosa doesn't look so good.
In order to to get to the SB the Niners are going to need the #1 seed. Every game is crucial and they are not beating the Steelers without Bosa.

So we do what we did in 2021 then? No, I like Purdy, and one way to get the fanbase to revolt is trading Bosa.
