The "Bosa needs to hurry up so everyone can stop talking about states and taxes" thread.

It's become useless. Thought there was a parking lot for that.

Lol yes… his federal income tax is 37%. His state income tax is 13.3%. His agent fee is 10%. His money manager is probably 10%. So in Cali, he pays 50% of his check in taxes Vs in a state like Florida where it's 37% because it's only federal. That's millions in difference ($5.2M difference if his signing bonus is $40M).

so like I said, in California - he immediately loses 50% of his money to federal income taxes and the states income tax. Then 10% goes to his agent. Then whatever else he pays. So at best, he's getting 40% of his income.

when you're only takin home 40% of your total earning, I'd argue that 13.3%, several million, is a major difference. All because of where you live. Lol

lets say of a $40M signing bonus, he takes home $16M (40%). He lost 13.3% (CA state income tax) - which amounts $5.2M.

in other words, he would of taken home 32% more cash than he did and put that in his bank account if he lived somewhere else. Lmao "nothing major". That's why things like "it's only 13.3% of your income" is so dangerous. It's a ton of money compared to what you actually get to take home after everything has taxed you.

CA take home: $16M
FL take home: $21.2M - approx 32% difference

Yeah I thought you were saying somehow CA was some insane difference but it's not. As for the signing bonus itself, it's taxed on your place of primary residence, which is Florida for bosa. I know the original argument was tougher to sign players with state tax so this is a one off.

If this is the case then make the signing bonus bigger and reduce the annual pay outs so the per game tax is less. I'm guessing other awards like DPOY,pro bowl, sacks goals, are also based on primary residence.

I wonder how much is pride at making sure he beats Chris Jones.

Highly doubt he's singling any one player out to beat, he wants to be the highest paid defensive player, so that would include Jones.

They are both looking to beat Donald.
On KNBR they had a beat reporter for the chiefs and they said that Reid, Mahomes, and Kelce are not happy that Jones hasn't reported. They think he should have wrapped this up already and it's costing the team at this point.
The Niners, coaches GM and players) have not made any negative comments about the situation yet.

Ehh Lynch and Kyle have both said similar things. Maybe not to the same degree but Kyle has said many times he thought this would be done by now, and Lynch has said they don't like having one of their best players practicing.

They've just had a slightly more optimistic tone (including Kyle saying he hopes Bosa can practice next week) but most of the comments have been the same.

Don't kid yourself. They are majorly pissed behind closed doors.

If that is true, Then I think those players are stepping over the line. Other players(Even teammates) should never get involved in contract situations that involve other players.
When is the first day of practice? Labor Day?

Really hope they set a hard deadline for the night before…

I don't really know because I've never paid attention, but do contracts get signed on weekends? Seems to me these fat cat agents and FO personnel work banker hours. I don't expect anything until Tuesday at the earliest.

I feel like they'd emphasize getting him in if the contract is done, hopefully it happens tomorrow or so. I was wondering the same thing though. This is ridiculous

Yeah, I usually don't mind if stuff doesn't spill out cause typically that's a bad thing, but this is a long ass holdout and all we are hearing are Bs rumors. Lol super stressful and now we are one week from game day and we don't even know what type of football shape bosa is in… our best player. Lol sucks

They went into that and Kelce and Mahomes think that Jones is not taking the team into consideration. They also said they're GM doesn't like getting jerked around and last time with Tyreke they didn't even want to deal with it and traded him instead.

This was yesterday:
On his "New Heights" podcast with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, the Chiefs tight end said "I don't get it" in reference to Jones' holdout. Jones is entering the final year of his $80 million, four-year contract and has been looking for a long-term deal that would make him the second-highest paid defensive tackle in the league.

"Chris, you're really scaring me, man. Can you please come back?" Kelce said on the podcast. "You must know something I don't know because I just don't get it. I really want to win another Super Bowl ring with you, brother.

It's pretty embarrassing how many Niner fans and Niner content creators are now downplaying how important Bosa is to this team. All because he hasn't signed yet. True homers who are preparing ithemselves ncase the worst happens so they can say "We don't need him he is not that good"

Just the DPOY who is 25 entering the prime of his career. The guy who already has 50+ sacks in his career and still 1 year left on his rookie deal. And that includes him missing an entire season. So that's 50+ sacks in 3 seasons(Counting playoffs). Now you have Larry Krueger saying DE's are useless in today's era because QB's are getting the ball out so quick. But yet all off season he has been complaining about the Niners lack of depth at DE and said they should have went out and signed some semi big names. He's also saying Bosa has done nothing in the playoffs ignoring his rookie season where he was dominant all playoffs and might have been mvp of the SB if Niners won that game. He has 8 sacks in 6 games.

Another narative being spin is people saying Niners were a top 5 defense in 2020 without Bosa. Anybody who watched that defense, It was not a top 5 defense despite what the stats may have shown. They constantly got the ball moved on them. They were rarely ever getting pressure on the QB. Hyder was their best DE that season. Let that sink in.

So many think players like Bosa just grow on trees and you can get them anywhere in the draft.
