Let's see … hmm
we had highest paid QB at one time (jimmy G)
highest paid FB
highest paid OT
highest paid LB
highest paid TE at one time
Just shelled 84 million for DT

yeah I'm sure any NFL player, let alone someone like Nick would sign a incentive laden deal, with no guarantees lol WTF man?

Ok genius …
What I'm saying is .. let's say his camp is asking for 150 total 100 guaranteed
counter with 165 total 85 guaranteed
again .. he should be highest paid defensive player .. I agree .. but we don't want the same mess we had with Dee Ford

The guaranteed is really all that matters for players.

Yet it seems our front office stalled out the signing past training camp over 4 million dollar quibble. At an ask price that seems pretty reasonable given the pace of player inflation.

Why?

Paraag Marathe is likely the league's best at cap management which is why this team has been littered with talent over the last 13 or so years most years. Unless he is crazy we have offered Bosa a salary commensurate with being the DPOY. We know he values the player and then he sets his mark and draws his line in the sand. Being that we own the rights to Bosa the next 3 seasons if we so choose we will get this thing done in time. We just have to be patient. Bosa and his agent may be tough but Paraag hasn't been beaten yet so far as I can recall

Sometimes its best to sacrifice in the short term for long term goals. Bosa already havong to take a deal below 35. Be a soft closer here ok? We have a tough season ahead with lots of questions on both ol and dl. Lets get some momentum with goodwill from bosa ok? If there's big money being argued about elsewhere let us know about it.otherwise get this guy in pads

Hey bro .. I'll respond since I respect you and have always respected your opinions! And I'm here to share and learn so correct me if I am wrong .. I'll welcome that

if you look at my original post, I LOVE Nick and want him to be 9er for life!!
but what I was saying is just sharing with other fans that Nick is special but not what he thinks of himself
sometimes you pay for a guys potential and not just their achievements .
both Lamar and Burrow deserve to be paid! As does Nick!
When I see Nick, I see a dominating beast of a player, but he is not the heart and soul of the teams defense! Fred is! Aaron Donald for his team is.. as is Micah Parsons! I just see a lot of question marks in his game and leadership quality and injury risks, so I was just sharing my idea that they should offer him more total comp but maybe slightly less guaranteed . Let's not suffer from recency bias

Nick Bosa is the MVP of the San Francisco 49ers. Warner may be the leader of the defense, but Bosa is the most important player. I don't get how that is even questioned.
So much for those "reports" from a few days ago

They're all talking wild shots and gaining followers. If they are right they gain even more followers

I don't think the Niners should give in and sign Bosa to massive extension and make him the highest paid non-quarterback

1. Not leader type, not an alpha dog.

2. Bosa is great, but very injury risk.

3. Yes he gets lots of sacks, but rarely forces turnovers or causes QB to throw interceptions

4. most of sacks come from good coverage and take several seconds to develop, rarely are they game altering

5. he gets shut down when he faces great offensive tackles. Example remember last year vs lane Johnson (eagles)

6. rarely forces opposite teams to get penalties (false start, holding, personal fouls)

7. not a player that scares the QB. You were scared some DE's / OLB would break your qb in half, I remember Patrick Willis and Bowman knocking out RBs and QBs weekly, Bosa sacks/hits seem to be less impactful

Im not saying we should trade bosa .. nor am I saying we can find someone better. But he needs to be realistic who he is … maybe we should give him incentive based contract and tell him.. hey we will give you 200 million if you can hit these benchmarks

LOL

What a joke of a post 🤡

Probably an Eagle's fan in disguise.

Or Grant. This sounds like something Grant would say.

Great point about Grant. I think he's a genius 🤮🤮🤮
Interesting negotiating process from a "win now" team.

Now if we had Bosa and Fred Warner out I might be more worried. Fred is the real leader of the defense whereas Bosa is the best player. We still have the leader out there so we should be able to pull out a win even with a new DC

For some reason, linebackers have kind of been lost in the shuffle wth so much attention paid to pass rushers (some are LBs) and dominant interior linemen. The fact is they're still the most important unit on defense. The leading tackler is usually a linebacker. They have to fill gaps, rush the passer and cover receivers. This requires decent speed and adequate strength to handle both duties.

I don't know anyone who does not think Warner is our leader and Bosa effects the passing game more. It's why it's a team sport and you can't win without the other. Edge is extremely hard to find Aldon Smith Nick Bosa are rare. Aldon had off field issues which Nick does not. Pay the man and get this done already 😤

Agree 💯%, football is not rocket science.

this is what I hate about numb nut fans .. someone comes here to share their opinion and ideas with fellow minded and bright fans to get their opinions, instead of countering with facts or smart responses, some want to act like they are hot stuff .
I gave my opinion, and I have yet to see quality responses besides one or two posters whom I respect here

niner85, I thought you were decent dude, but I see you're just like the rest of them

I never called you or insinuated you are anything.

I'm just asking the question, how do you know you are probably a bigger fan ? Do you realize how silly that sounds ?

If we do not have a deal on the table that pays Bosa like the DPOY we need our heads examined. The deal should be north of AD and with guarantees exceeding Watt and it should have been offered and signed already as Bosa was the reigning DPOY while not yet Pat Mahomes. Git R Done!

Seriously we need to pay top talent. We tried the Buckner experiment and it failed with drafting his replacement in Kinlaw. If this organization thinks they can replace Bosa they not only need their head examined they need to put down the crack pipe. Crazy this is not done yet. I'm checking constantly and nothing but Reddit rumors. Yes please Get R done.

Pretty much first thing I do every day. Second thing I do is check the Purdy thread to see how he's doing healthwise.
