So the Chiets, who everyone thinks are the standard, are also a mega fail?

you clearly have zero experience in negotiating contracts. I do it for a living.

good luck trying to be the hero that gets all done on your timeline.

Yeah, think I'm in agreement., but still believe a deal gets done tomorrow.

This!

Home field advantage is at stake.

If it's just the 4M - they can recoup that in parking fees

I don't think you can compare the Chiefs situation to ours.

Parking fees for one game.

The Chiefs (Chris Jones) and the Panthers (Brian Burns) are both planning to play without their star this weekend. Bosa is the third point in the triangle. Each corner is waiting for one of the other corners to give in. Eventually, all three will sign but who knows when. Three different agents, all seeking to set the bar higher than the other, and becoming The Guy.

Meanwhile, three teams are preparing to play a football games this weekend with the guys they have now with the Chiefs up first this Thursday night. Will Michael Katz and Chris Jones blink first?

Well the Chiefs already have 2 SB's in recent years and they have Mahomes. The Panthers are in rebuild mode anyway, So does it really matter if Burns misses games?

They can't pay other players with parking fees.

Relax. He'll get signed this week and be there for game 1.

This isn't about the "organization."

Each side has a "want" that is significant. Each agent wants to set a higher bar than the next one. The Players' Union wants a higher bar for the next round and agents are only too willing to comply.

League owners don't want one of their members to go off the tracks with a deal like the Watson contract that blows the top of the market. Hence, if the SF FO yields to an over-the-top demand, Jed will have hell to pay at the next owners' meeting. All of that in addition to the fact that the team has some very good players they want to keep next season and beyond. If they break the bank now for Bosa, they can say good bye to BA and what about Purdy in another year after that?

Enough with the "blame the organization" talk.

So if Bosa said either "Give me 40 Million a year, or trade me, or I will sit all year", what would be your decision.

1. Just give him the 40 million and make room for him by eventually not re-signing other good talent.
2. Look for a really good deal(multiple firsts) and make the trade.
3. Call his bluff, and just let him sit until he agrees to a more reasonable deal

Option 1 for me. Overpay now but at least overpay for a young elite player who has played on all pro level for all of his career. For this particular year the extension doesn't raise the cap, and down the road too many things can happen. You eat your pride and reset the DE market.

I would be in the Rams mode right now. Go all in. They are going to be in salary cap hell anyway soon and be very top heavy if not already.

It's pretty simple for this year: if 49ers have no Bosa there's no way they win a Superbowl this year. So I take Bosa.

Read what I said about the role of the agents in all this. It isn't about just one player.

If they're that far apart, he'll either sit out until he needs th$ or they trade him if offered a large enough package. I don't see any way that organization caves to something so far off.

And when the Niners miss the playoffs, JL can say well we saved money. And I am sure the fans will be like "ok well that makes it ok then, Where do I get my season tickets for next season"?

...and what happens if Bosa is injured and misses a good part of the season? Now you can say goodbye to at least three key players in your future.
