The guaranteed money is only a bad thing if he gets a career threatening injury or he somehow is just not the same player which is very unlikely. If Bosa signs a 5 year extension are the Niners really going to get rid of him in the next 6 years? It's not like he is approaching 30 and could fall off at any moment.

I find it funny that fans are in an uproar about his asking price when the team has been getting away with highway robbery in 3 of the last 4 years when it comes to Bosa's production compared to what he was making. How much was his cap when he won DROY? How much was it when he had 15 1/2 sacks 2 years ago? How much last season when he had 18 1/2 sacks and won DPOY?

They got a huge bargain the last 4 years and now it's time to pay him. Actually last 5 years because this season they are getting him at a bargain also.

One would think that after that Trey Lance debacle, this FO would be eager to redeem itself.

Would the FO be redeemed if they paid Bosa such a staggering amount that in the future they cannot sign some of their vital pieces? If they didn't win the Super Bowl (at least once) before those stars left, that redemption would be pretty short lived.

I don't think Bosa is asking for such an unreasonable amount, almost every report has been similar to the next in that he wants to be the highest paid defender. The hangup is likely in some of the small details or language, but I can't see how I could be important enough to possibly cost a game. Get the deal done now, then take a year or even 2 to figure out how to make it work better for the team.

I don't think that is the case. Bosa said before that he didn't necessarily need to be the highest paid defensive player. The 49ers budgeted an amount that would make him that. And there is still a 4 million dollar gap between the two sides. So it is quite possible that Bosa is looking for an unreasonable amount.
Maybe the Niners should start signing these 1st RD stars after year 3 of their rookie contract instead of after year 4. They are going to be going through this all over again next year after Aiyuk has his breakout season.

Welp there you have it. Niners have offered more than the TJ Watt deal and maybe more than Donald. If so, Bosa should sign immediately- unless he is being unreasonable.

We got to pray (pray), pray (pray). We got to pray for Hammer to make the deal today.

And please Hammer, don't hurt 'em.

If it worked for Crabtree...

Hit him with all the fines. Every game check missed will not be made up for in future contracts. Math doesn't work like that if they're offering him top DL money

What is there to understand ?

Bosa is by far the best 49ers player, considering his age and position
Mahomes is by far the best chiefs player, considering his age and position

The question is if we were the Niners' would you give $40m to Bosa. I said yes, because I don't mind overpaying $10m (and it's less than that) to the best player the Niners have. Am I thrilled with overpaying ? No, value is king. But elite all-pro difference makers are kings too. I'm OK with that $10m not going to a good player or two.

Looks like the FO is going to play its hand. Go ahead and miss those game checks, Bosa.

Won't be fines. Niners will waive those when he's back. But the game checks are gone forever.

I'm emotionally expecting him to retire. That way whenever he comes back - tomorrow, Week 5, 2024 - feels like a W.

Llike I said, if he sits out the max, put him in the press box for the rest and then franchise him.
