I'm so amped up that Up right now. Hahaha so awesome what the team is doing, we may even be trying to get another splash player. Who knows! I think we positioned ourselves for that.
interested to see what Bosa's contract looks like. All I know is that jed spent $80M today, crazy.

Yea so so how can the cap be lowered if he's still on the same deal he was before the extension for this year? Spreading the 5-year bonus money into this year shouldn't help right? It would only make things worse for the deal that's already there. What's the actual explanation?
I'm not 100% how it works but my understanding is that they convert some of it into different types of payments, instead of base salary.
we will wait until the details come out, but I'm sure AB can help break it down.
The $50M bonus prorates at $10M a yr from 2023-2027, I have to think Bosa has a minimum salary of $1.08M, plus the $10M proration, meaning a $11.08M cap number for 2023, saving $6.779M, putting them around $7.4M under right now.
wait...I thought rookie deals couldn't be restructured. So they took 17m in 5th year salary and converted to 1.08m + 10m bonus? does the cba allow that?

The fifth year option can be mended if it's tied to an extension and/or renegotiated in some capacity - I believe Barkley did it this year with the giants. There is flexibility to it in comparison with the core four years of a rookie scale contract

Most had it be done before TC or during. I do what I can.

I'm sure he's flying in right now, if he hasn't already.

No, you can, but my thought is that they may have front loaded it for 2023, so we'd go from $30M in cap room to around $13M in cap room, but 2024's cap number could be as low as $12M.

Between signing bonuses for Nick Bosa ($50m), Trent Williams (~$18m) and George Kittle (~$10m), Jed York/49ers paid out nearly $80 million to key veterans today.

Teams can buy a significant degree of salary-cap sustainability since bonuses amortize. Cash is king in the NFL
