I can't see anyone moving a legit starting OL at this point.

We're broke.. Next year a doozy cap wise. But next year is next year..

Not much shopping happening

Nah, I've watched the eagles and Saints be like $70M in the red and turn out just fine.

insight into what training nicks been doing

His mom is sayi h he's faster and stronger than last year

Nicks mom said that the biggest difference between chargers negotiating joeys and 49ers was that they were really professional and kept everything behind closed doors. Didn't leak anything or lie about anytbjng in the media. She said the chargers have done that.

nicks mom has been very open that the 49ers are a much better organization than the chargers. She said on CMCs moms podcast that the 49ers are great to the players and their families - specifically their families. Better seats, better access to the players pre and post game, everything. I love hearing that.

she even said that our chefs are amazing. Nicks on his way here and left Florida around 5PM eastern time, 2pm our time. He will be at the facility tonight

My mom says I'm faster and stronger than last yr too

I think Bosa's our best defender, but having a hard time with paying him more than Donald. AD was by far and away the best defensive player in the nfl when he signed. People were already discussing him as an all time great. Bosa's great, but not head and shoulders better than TJ Watt. In fact I feel they're neck and neck in caliber of DE's, which is why TJs contract was the right benchmark. As great as Bosa is , I don't recall him completely taking over and wrecking games on the level of AD. In fact he had 0 sacks in our last playoff run. Just my two cents.

What am I missing?
It's just the nature of NFL contracts. The latest guy to be signed almost always gets the highest average annual value (AAV) ever.

For example, we just saw Lamar Jackson sign for the highest AAV ever - $52M a year in April. A couple months later, Herbert signed an extension too - his for $52.5M a year. Obviously neither of those guys are better than Mahomes ($45M AAV).

It's basically just a product of the salary cap going up every year. On rare occasions you'll see a guy take a "discount" (Chris Jones reportedly only wants $28M a year); otherwise, the latest extension for a given position is usually the biggest ever.

I like Bosa but he's not worth with that much. Probably won't live up to the contract.

He's already shown he's worth that much. He's earned it.

so you're saying if he does literally nothing the next 5 years its okay cause hes shown hes worth that much and has already earned it?

Nope, that's not what I'm saying.

i agree with your thought process not saying he doesn't deserve that but I also don't think he was as much of a game-breaker as Aaron Donald who may go down as best DL in NFL history I don't think anyone had the gamebreaking ability he has over that long of time

That being said if he plays as well as he did last year with Hargrave and Jackson added it would be impossible to stop us.

In 4 years Bosa's contract will probably be a bargain. Parsons will go higher, and then the next pass rusher will etc etc. It's just the way it is. It ain't my money so who cares anyways.

agree not saying he didnt earn the contract just saying I get why 49ers were hesitant to give him the same APY as Donald.

Do we know that was even the case? They went WAY higher so imo they had no issue forking the money. It may have been other details and not that.
