His older brother is "Big Bear" and I'm guessing he didn't want to use Little Bear because of the children's book/cartoon

Still not signed. So he's ended his hold out. Guess he wont play without signing. Wonder what the discussions are.
Large contract, takes time to read and analyze. Money is the main factor, he won't miss the game.

49ers announced they officially signed reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year and All-Pro DL Nick Bosa to a five-year extension that runs through the 2028 season.

so this deal is tacked on to this year (in lieu of the 5th year option), and in 2023 he gets his rookie deal salary plus the signing bonus for the new contract?

We'll find out soon enough, but yes it's tacked onto his 5th yr option, but he can lower his base salary down if he wanted too, more likely his cap number is $27.859M, leaving us $13M under the cap.

AB, what do you think is more likely to happen, we frontload Bosa's contract, or we use our cap space this year to add another player?

Front load Bosa for 2023. Not the entire amount, we should have around $13M in cap room, still can bring someone in mid-season.

If Purdy is what we hope he is, there is that contract we will eventually have to start worrying about. So make sure we are good a few years down the road in case we need to pay big there.

Good thing no one in here was freaking out or saying we should trade him or that he wasn't going to play this season. That would've been silly.

I can't believe the fans who wanted to trade Bosa, or the ones who bought into the Reddit post, Twitter did, or X, whatever you call it, teams fans thinking they were getting Nick, from Raiders fans thinking the Jimmy G restructure was to get Nick when they were over the cap, or Bears fans all offseason talking like they were getting him as a FA next year, like we wouldn't tag him.
