Need to see the details first. They made some unexpected moves - they may of front loaded it when we thought they were going to make the first two years low payments.

between the $50M signing bonus (can be spread out throughout the lifetime of the contract) and restructuring kittle & Williams, it'll be very interesting.

kittle said he didn't get his money as a signing bonus, just did the team a solid. Which is interesting, makes me think bosa is making more this year than we anticipated

Not sure why Kittle said that, the 49ers cap room went from $8M to $31M on NFLPA.com yesterday to today, those include the restructures, so unless he took a pay cut, he got a signing bonus.

Yeah, very strange comment by him. Maybe he was just messing with the media? I can see him doing that just for a laugh.

AB, what do you think happened regarding Bosa's first two years and why we cleared so much cap space?

I think they had to clear that cap room to be able to give Bosa a $50M signing bonus, as for cap number wise, I'm guessing his base salary for 2023($17.859M) stayed the same, so his 2023 cap number would be $27.859M, leaving $13M in cap room, as for 2024, I'm thinking it's low, like $12M, or around there.

Yup! Dallas has to figure out how to pay Micah & Dak, Dak cost $60M next year on the cap. lol they've been paying a lot of guys too. big benefit dallas has is that their owner has no issue doling out massive signing bonuses, like we did.

I hope it messes up their cap but they may be entertaining using Lance on the cheap to keep their roster strong around him, similar to what we did. have a cheap QB surrounded by awesome talent. I just don't think they realize how bad lance currently is. lol

Not just Parsons and Dak but they have to pay Lamb also. Lamb, Aiyuk, and Jefferson are all going to get paid next year.

Do you guys think there is a ceiling for these salaries or will they just continue to escalate in similar fashion forever?

I believe athletes should be paid well, very well in fact because they, after all are the product that we are paying to see. I just think NFL, MLB, NBA contracts specifically have gottena little out of hand IMO 😁

Depends if the NFL revenue continues to climb each season.

NFL salaries dont even compare to the nba and mlb

average players in those leagues get more than elite nfl players

It's tough - I think players as a whole in the NFL, based on how much revenue they generate, are underpaid and the league wants it that way with the Hard Cap. Most players are thousandaires, not millionaires. the issue I see is that a couple of players, specifically the QB, is taking up mass amounts of the salary cap - making it difficult to maintain a quality team around them.

the other big issue i think there is, is the lack of guaranteed money. which I understand its really tricky with how large of a roster there is and a hard cap constraint. It's just that this sport is so brutal and it's hard to come out unscathed - they should be paid well for playing at a high level and generating as much money as they do. I believe someone is worth what they generate in value, NFL players generate a lot of money - especially QBs etc. The trick is that this is the ultimate team sport and you need quality players around you to win it all, or at least compete with it consistently.

It'll be interesting to see the structure, im anxious for it to get released. They may of paid him more this year to ease up cap room next year and going forward, instead of making it too back heavy? who knows.

I trust this front office though, they've done an excellent job of managing the cap over the years, while taking care of our home grown talent.

This is what I have seen for Kittle & Trent's restructures.

"SEP 6 2023Converted $10.57M of 2023 base salary into signing bonus, adding 1 void year, clearing $8.456M of cap with San Francisco (SF)" - Kittle

"SEP 6 2023Converted $18.235M of 2023 base salary into signing bonus, adding 1 void year, clearing $14.588M of cap with San Francisco (SF)" - Trent

Super confused by kittle's comment. I guess he was just messing with people.

How confusing this has turned out to be. My guess is paraag had to throw his plan in the garbage once the opinion surveys started coming back.

STOP SAYING ITS A FIVE YEAR DEAL.

We have him for 6.
