I don't watch Pitt enough, but I feel like their scheme isn't as vanilla as ours. We just run a bunch of 4 man rushes and expect them to win consistently.

I will say imo their DL is better too. Heyward is still a game wrecker in the middle. Alex Highsmith is underrated as well. They have some quality depth.

End of the day Watt might just better than Bosa and that's okay.

Bosa is awesome, Watt is better. Watt is 29, Bosa 26, so Nick has a chance to get there.

I wouldn't call that a "2 sack" game... Darnold literally ghosted him self into that sack... and that is one of the reasons why I feel our defense gets overrated at times... the stat looks right but a look at it reveals something else.... just like last week we didn't stop Rodgers on that first drive... Lazard just dropped an easy catch for a 1st down.... these things I feel always catch up to us.

Pretty accurate statement. Overall the pass rush is extremely underwhelming.

The DL hasn't been the same since Demeco left town. 😭

I also see other top edge rushers getting double teamed every week. Crosby . Watt. Any top edge rusher is usually double teamed. The thing I see with Bosa is he has more trouble getting by these guys than some others. He relies a lot on power rather than quickness. I was watching Will Anderson last week. He was leaving his guy in the dust with his quick moves. I still want to see more push from the middle. Bosa continues to play at a high level but there are others that consistently apply more pressure

I could be wrong but Nick lead the nfl in pressures last yr I believe.

nick is plenty explosive and is one of the most nuanced edge rushers in the nfl.

gotta understand how important scheme and the guys around them are to make s**t work.

People like talking about hutchinson's last game, you know who he was facing last week? Freaking Justin skule.

Anderson was legit playing against the worst offensive line in football in the bears (with Hunter on the other side and a rookie QB that clearly has a problem processing in the NFL right now.

Bosa was against one of the best play-callers in football and one of the best OT duo in the NFL and still got two sacks. Our scheme doesn't help these guys either imo.

I mean we gave a 97 yard TD with a pass out of the end zone. Pass rush was non existent

I mean our DC had a S lined up on JJ. Unless the DL broken into that backup asap it was doomed.

Not every sack is gonna be a clean you beat your man sack. It's football. There's coverage sacks, blown pass blocking assignment sacks, qb's holding onto the ball to long sacks etc etc.

everything is geared towards scoring points in the NFL. My god I just heard Mel Kiper asking to have 2-high coverage banned from the NFL because QBs can't throw bombs all game lol.
Does TJ Watt get held and not called nearly every play?

Bosa is great but my point was he's a power rusher that can get locked onto by pass protectors. I know it's often illegal holding but officials don't call holding every pass play. They probably could but if it's done subtly then they often let them get away with it. Not saying it's right . Just a fact of life in the NFL. Some edge rushers rely more on speed and quick moves so the blockers can't get any kind of hold on them. Being able to shed blocks, even the illegal holds is a skill that some players do better than others.

NO, he doesn't get bear hugged either and I would think that Bosa gets doubled more often

While watching the Bengals play the Chiefs last Sunday I noticed that Hendrickson for the Bengals would rush to the inside when the Chiefs tried to use the RB to chip him, when the RB was going out into a pattern during a passing play. I wondered how many times Boas adjusted his rush to avoid the chip by the RB.

I don't know if he ever gets held but I rarely ever see him get doubled and I don't get it. Watt should be getting double teamed and chipped all the time.

Maybe because he's so quick they have a hard time doubling him. Will Anderson has that same type of quickness.

Yes I was thinking the same about the quickness. Bosa seems to just be a bull rush type of DE he's bulky, speed is not his attribute.

since he tore his knee.. he doesn't speed rush with the bend like he did in 2019... scared to test the knees ?

I was thinking he is a tad slower, certainly not a speed rusher with that twitch agility like Watt, but now you have me thinking about 19. Maybe you are on to something there with his injury. Has anyone combed through his tape like that yet?

I think its fair to say Watt-Garrett-Bosa. All of them command focus from an opposing offense. Regardless he is awesome, we just need one other person to step up from the d-line on the money downs.
does not impact the game the way other guys in his pay scale do
