I just learned that the ankle bone is connected to the shin bone, shin bone connected to the knee bone, knee bone connected to the thigh bone, thigh bone connected to the hip bone, hip bone connected to the back bone, back bone connected to the shoulder bone, shoulder bone connected to the neck bone, neck bone connected to the head bone.
If the team docs don't fix this, the sprain can spread throughout his body.

a "full blown" high ankle sprain could mean a complete tear needing surgery
That's considered an unstable high ankle sprain
there's one main ligament in the upper ankle that attache the two leg bones
it's either strained, partial tear (most common) full tear
just like how you can injure a finger. is it bruised, broken or Ronnie Lotted?
lolz
dude was crazy...
you are correct...I should have said diagnosed with an actual high ankle sprain (severe).
I think it comes down to if the ankle is stable or unstable.
If it's stable the tibia and fibula are mostly unaffected. if it's unstable, then two or more of the ligaments are torn and the tibia and fibula are displaced.
reports of him out of his boot in less than a week, you'd think it was stable

What we do know.....he's out of his walking boot a week after the injury. fact. There were no broken bones. fact. There was no surgery. fact
Yes our medical staff is being cautious...maybe he could actually be able to practice in a week, yet they're holding him out the full month?
your timetable of 9 weeks is about as likely as when you said he might not play week 1 because of a tight hammy in May OTAs.
we will agree to disagree there.
It's not a 9 week recovery time though. Missing the first 3 games would still put him within the 4-6 week recovery range assuming he's fully recovered during the bye and a full-go for practice leading up to the Monday night game against the Browns.
The injury occurred 4 weeks before the opener, so the Steeler game is 6 weeks from the time of the injury.
week 5 is when you're saying he would play which is 9 weeks after the injury happened.

Because I seriously call BS on that.

This thread is totally off the rails. Even by zone standards. The only post worthwhile in the last dozen pages is THL's. I appreciate clever humor sir.

Right, but that's after a bye week, so if he doesn't play week 3 against the Steelers (6 weeks after the injury), then he has no choice but to sit out. It doesn't mean it took him the full 9 weeks to recover.

You can tell because he's walking. If he was healthier he'd be at least jogging everywhere and at 100% he'd be in a full blown sprint.

I'm not caught up on how the man is walking lol. Others may be. Until they announce that he wont play week 1 I'm going to assume there is at least a chance he plays. If he doesn't maybe he plays week 2..if he doesnt maybe he plays week 3 ..I'm not too worried about it he dodged the bullet of it being season ending but with 20 days or so before September 8th there is still hope.

How do docs fix a person who's head bone is connected to their butt bone?

There's never been a rule in the NFL where if you don't practice, you don't play. Your pants are on fire.

I think my high school head coach had that rule but when money and jobs are on the line it's different.
