Nick Bosa shows Solomon Thomas how he got his sack during the NFC Championship game by pinning down the blocker's low-setting hand while using the other arm to lift & power the blocker back. @nbsmallerbear knows how to rush the passer! #PassRush #49ers pic.twitter.com/5Yn44aYhDX

Don't let that distract you from the fact that he's injury prone, will never make a full NFL season and Q Williams should be the guy drafted.
I think all those guys have abandoned the board.

The only thing I didn't like about him during some of the interviews he had during the season was him claiming our defense was a championship defense before actually winning it all. Time to prove what you been claiming all season and show up with that CHAMPIONSHIP DEFENSE!@

Absolutely.
Absolutely not. A quick search after reading catchmaster's post and after about 4 articles and a nextgen stats video I don't think that is such a good idea. I found this little gem of stats added to an article written by a journalist who writes for the patriots.

I just think we should trust our studs up front to bring the heat and trust our lb's and secondary to play their technique and make the most of the opportunities that present themselves. The last thing we want to do is be something we are not. We may not be able to completely shut them down but I believe we can slow them up enough that if we get our run game going, the playaction will be lethal in the second half. If we win the turnover battle in this game by 2+, we will win by as many scores. Our offense is as explosive as theirs and that is what everyone outside of this fan base has been overlooking.

I'm just talking about the idea of having some unexpected wrinkles in there. Now if we are just getting there with 4, great, no need. But my thought was just mixing it up so Mahommes isn't so sure as to what's happening, what the defense is doing, etc. That turnover battle will be huge however as well as the playaction. I expect some hard bites on that.

Blitzing alot is a symptom,....not a solution.
The hope is that we wont have to do so very much cause that'd mean our guys are getting home consistently. You dont save all the cuteness you have for the last game.

I'm all for doing what we have been doing. I'm just saying that if it isn't working we may need to blitz, but only if our normal D isn't working. We can't let them get up on us early because Reid is the type of coach that does't sit on leads. He will try and bury us if we can't slow them down.

Could we replace the whole politics free thing with rookie of the year until next season starts? Nobody gives a s**t about your politics when you're producing like an elite player

Absolutely not. Mahomes was one of the (if not the) best quarterbacks in the league against the blitz. Not saying we don't throw an occasional curve ball every once in a while, but this game will be won or lost by our 4 down d-linemen.Originally posted by LifelongNiner:Originally posted by CatchMaster80:This may be a game where we see Saleh blitz a little more to get quick pressure on Mahomes. There's no way the Niners will get blitz happy. That's not Saleh's style but he does throw one in from time to time. He may need to do it more in this game but he'll really need to disguise them so Mahomes can't dump it off. It seems to me that the Niners do a good job of defending screens. Anyway, I hope they don't need to do it and the front 4 can create enough pressure without any help.

I have no problem with it. If he sincerely believes they are a "championship defense" good for him. But he's not saying it in context of literally having won the SB, he means the D is championship caliber. Which it 100% is.

Even if the defense gives up a few plays, we shouldn't get out of our element. We have a championship caliber defense. We got here with what we do well. Saleh does throw in a timely blitz every now and then but to increase the frequency of blitzing against a QB that has shown to be one of the best at beating the blitz is like suicide.
We have solid tacklers all over the field and db's and lb's who can cover. Blitzes are high risk, high reward plays. Do it too many times and you're going to get burned. We need to trust in the front 4 who have been getting it done all year. We also have players and a scheme that forces offenses to methodically move the ball down the field because we are so good at keeping the play in front of us. KC relies on quick scoring drives and were ranked in the middle of the pack when it comes to redzone effeciency. Everyone seems to be worried about KC speed on offense but the fact is we have speed on defense also.
The real key to our defense having success is keeping them fresh throughout the duration of the game. Meaning, the offense needs to move the ball and control the clock and to not settle for too many field goals. If the offense keeps us in the game until the end, I favor our defense to make the game changing play over KC defense any day.

I'd love for the defense to be built around him and what he does. The way defenses in the past were built around Charles Haley and Fred Dean. He's not quite a rookie anymore and he's not quite a veteran yet, but once he has 100% of the defensive scheme down -- I'd love a defensive design where the entire defense revolves around our star player. We're probably at least a year or two away from this kind of defensive design, but I'm so looking forward to it.
First step in designing a defense for Bosa is getting a bit more depth at Edge Rusher, so that if Bosa is dinged up for a week or two, your defense doesn't have to change much because your primary player is missing for a couple of games.
