Jimmy sacrificed his knee to acquire Bosa. Now Bosa will sacrifice his knee to draft better pass protection for Jimmy.

It would be more ironic for Bosa's knee sacrifice to draft Jimmy's replacement!

Would need to lose here on out for that. Man, Trevor Lawerence would be frickin awesome right about now.

We just went from hoping we can get back to the Superbowl to hoping the team is watchable for the remainder of the season.

Yup. Zero chance of winning a Superbowl without Bosa. Zero. Dude was finally 100% and in the best shape ever. Done 1.5 games into the season. f**k!

I'm not going that far, losing Bosa isn't going to make or break the season for us. The next 3 games are very winnable games IMO, even without Jimmy at QB. It's not the end of the world, or season for us, we'll still be competitive, and can make a deep run IMO.

I don't know how you're coming to this conclusion but Bosa gone for year coupled with the billion other long-term injuries we have and you think none of this is make or break?

Bosa alone puts them out of super bowl convo. What were they before Bosa? Saleh needs that kinda pass rush in order to be effective. Without that, this defense will get eaten alive by good offenses. Hell, it already did by the chiefs and cardinals the last two games at practically full strength.

I like the optimism but if we're being honest, just making the playoffs seems like a really big challenge.

I do agree with AB. Bosa is a huge loss. But the team has depth and even without Bosa the defense is stout. More important than ever is that Ford returns strong. If he does, the 9ers will be good. Hyder is showing up and Armstead was a beast today. If the Niners ever were true SuperBowl contenders, this one big setback is not fatal. But the team cannot afford to lose either Ford or Armstead now.
I actually feel like the interior DL is better than last year also.

this means, he's basically useless for 2 years... he wont be as great as he is in year 1..

Just for reference AP tore his ACL and MCL in December of 2011 at the age of 26, led the NFL in rushing in 2012 with 2097 yds. Thats about 8-9 months of recovery at the most physically demanding position in the NFL and a RB who never avoids contact.

Then there's Frank Gore.....I mean I understand it really sucks and is easy to overreact, but damn Bosa could very well come back just fine too.

Agree, we can't overreact (Like I'm doing ) but there is also the possibility that he won't be the same, you you have to acquire players based on the most probable outcome. Yes, I think he'll be back, but won't be 100% in year 1 coming back or maybe even year 2. That's two years you have to play without his services, basically, so you do have to focus on shoring up that position while he's out. Edge rusher is not the easiest position to fill, if it was, they wouldn't pay the position almost as much as a QB.
Should have canceled the season like everything else. Would gladly give up a NFL season for a healthy Bosa.....and it's not really close. He is a generational talent.

Haha if SF drafts a IOL and we are higher in the draft because of the Bosa injury, that would be such a joke...Bosa's ACL is not even remotely close to filling that need.

I don't think the season is over like most on here do, but if the niners end up picking high, 5-10, the choice has to be either a top WR or CB, Chase or Surtain or Farley I think.

Trent Williams could always leave. Maybe Mike McGlinchey is better inside. You did watch the game yesterday so maybe protecting a FQB is the right thing to do after all? They both got killed in PP. We do need an ER and CB too though.

Agree. I wish we could have played his backups and hold him out these last two games (sorta like DeeFord) until back to some kind of normal turf instead of the carpeted concrete they will play on again next week.

agree on getting some protection for Jimmy, but what we lost yesterday was our franchise edge rusher. Dont know if we'll ever get him back 100%. Hope the MRI has some good news on a rather weekend (despite the win) if you ask me.

This injury situation is beyond ridiculously insane.
