Sure hindsight is great. But Armstead (who was a project when he was drafted) just had a career year and seemed to have figured it out. Same with Ward. And they gambled on Ford being healthy and lost. When he is healthy he is a really good edge rusher. They also were able to extend Kittle and should be able to extend Warner. And got a young DT who shows promise.

I'm not hating on the move. I'm just saying they had other options which they obviously considered well before they made the move, and that's not hindsight at all. The 49ers will always choose the option that will make the team better, even if means trading a leader in the locker room and our team voted MVP, that's my point lol.

Just sign a couple of edge rushers huh...

Have you not seen who've they've signed this year. I mean, I supposed "they signed a couple of edge rushers" like you said but I highly doubt that the production you see is what you had in mind.

I want Lawrence just as bad but not at the cost of Bosa.

No one said we should, it was a hypothetical involving getting Trevor Lawrence. I suggest you (and others) should start reading through the threads and dialogues prior to making assumptions and calling people "dumb".

Bosa is one of the best defenders in the league when healthy, but if Trevor Lawrence and Nick Bosa were in this upcoming draft and considering the current state of our franchise, who would you take? There is a debate to be had. I feel juvenile feeling the need to say this, but I will put my IQ up against any of yours any day of the week and twice on (football) Sundays.

Fair enough, HERN.

I guess it just depends on how you feel on Lawrence. This isn't just some normal first round prospect to me like a Sam Darnold or Baker Mayfield, he's a blue chip similar to Bosa who we all knew was gonna be a beast. He's basically been the top pick as soon as he stepped onto the field in College.

The 49ers kind of did obsess over Bosa, and they acknowledged they wanted him badly.

It's not doom and gloom at all, and I'm not worried about the defense going forward or anything. Just commenting on Lawrence.

It doesn't matter how blue chip of a prospect he is, odds are that he won't live up to the hype. It's very rare for a blue chip prospect who is hyped up like Lawrence to live up to the hype. The first two that come to mind are Manning and Elway.

I don't do social media.

John is a smart guy and I'm sure he's vetting our options at Quarterback going forward.
Anyone else just watch the Chargers cause you miss our Bosa so much?

Pretty much where I'm at. Bosa and Kittle are like the only 2 players I wouldn't be willing to trade. I would be trying to trade Ford, Alexander, Ward, Jimmy G and McGlinchey

Trading Bosa would be waving the white flag for a decade. The team still gets crap for trading Haley, and that was only done because he was a problem in the locker room. Bosa has no such problem.

Bosa is an untouchable and keep-at-all-costs player. As is Kittle. Warner is getting close to that. Anyone else is moveable.
100% agree. No way you move him for any type of compensation.

49ers aren't trading away Bosa and if the Jets get #1, there is no semi-realistic scenario where they would trade that pick away instead of just taking Lawrence. That is the QB prospect that franchise has been waiting decades for.

Thanks for the clarification, but I really don't like to waste my time on a stupid ideas or "what ifs". Debating "what ifs" is a complete waste of time IMO.

You want to talk about assumptions? I never called anyone dumb, so I guess your IQ doesn't account for reading comprehension?

I am generalizing the negative responses from you and others who, for example, begin there opinion with "I'm not going to waste my time looking..."

But you are correct, you did not specifically call me dumb..so I apologize for that.

I switched ove rwhen the Hawks went up by 20 and Jimmy started limping. I wanted to watch Herbert and see how he was doing. Better than Jimmy.
I would give our 1st + jimmy for a chance to draft trevor.

Doubt anyone would take that.
Bosa was easily the Niners best player last year and a huge reason why we went to the SB.
I know he has a big injury and Trevor is a big-time prospect, but I do not make that trade. I'd rather have a dominant defense that can win games with inferior QBs, than have an inept pass rush, especially in NFC West. Kyle is an offensive wizard, you need talent on defense. Without Bosa, that front four is scaring nobody. Dee Ford is damaged goods.
