I wouldn't mind giving away Bosa with picks for Watson

NT will be even more miserable if the trade happens.

Thing is, my dudes, everything sounds good in a Vacuum. Get Watson, lose Bosa, and move on to glory, right? RIGHT?!?!? Maybe, but as many have pointed out, you then have to fill Nick's role on the team, while also still signing the rest of our squad. And since you have to send *at least* two (three?) firsts to get Watson, you cannot immediately acquire his replacement.

And, though he is loathed around these parts, Cohn has a point about Bosa's injury history--we have to consider that going forward. What he does not mention, though, is that Bosa has bounced back each time.

Mr. Con Man gets his stuff from AB81, NC, and the rest of the Webzone hall of famers. He has no original thoughts other than to rag on the 49ers.

Right and I think it was posted that it would be a major dead cap hit to trade him. And that would wipe out the savings we would get from Watson's salary this year versus Jimmy's salary. Like others have said if the Texans won't take Jimmy and a bunch of picks or just a bunch of picks then draft a guy. But no way do we ship off Bosa.
trade bosa for watson and sign jj watt, texans of the west. we basically had the same outcome the last time both our teams were in the playoffs, lose to maholmes while blowing leads.

Difference is the 49ers were still in the game late. Houston went up 21 early and ended up getting blown out.

Agree. Very foolish!
So many angry goofy takes in this thread.

News Flash: we lost the SB because of poor QB play. Our O would be unstoppable with good to great QB play.

And no, our team wouldn't be lopsided. We would have a good to average D with an elite offense. That can win a SB.
Losing the SB was a team effort, including Shanahan, plus refs bad calls; but we could've overcome that.

Don't want to turn this into a trash Jimmy thread, but it's clear Jimmy was the week link all through the playoffs.
How many teams win a SB without a great to elite defense? All 6 of Brady's SB rings with the Pats his team had an elite defense. The Bucs had an elite defense. The Chiefs had one of the better defenses from the midway point on in the 2019 season. Ravens had elite defenses. Seahawks had the legion of doom when they won the SB. Very rarely you see shootouts in the SB. Asking your offense to score a TD every drive is alot of pressure.
How this thread looks right now

Umm Brady didn't have an elite defense for all 7 of his rings. Bucs defense wasn't elite. Played good, but not great/elite. Chiefs defense was no where close to great/elite. Saints, Packers, they won without a great defense.

But it is true, you can't win if you have a bad or average defense, it's gotta be at least a top 15 type of defense. P Manning was always getting bounced out of the playoffs early because the Colts rarely had a good defense. So that does matter. But you don't need a great or elite defense to win one. Plenty of teams have done it without one.

If Bosa comes back healthy, im sure that will help out AA as well, and hopefully Kinlaw looks like a 1st round pick next year. LBs are still solid. DBs need work, but Bucs had below average DBs and were fine. Point is, we have a defense good enough to get the job done. Our offense could be special though. Very few teams have two good, young, WRs and an All Pro TE, to go along with a great play caller and a great run game. This offense can potentially win a SB, even if the defense isn't as good as it was last year or 2 years ago.

That sounds like a whole lot of wishful thinking. No Bosa. New DC. Guys like Hyder are walking. No money to spend and no early draft picks to add replacements.

They'd be lucky to be average with no presence on the edge.
