yes average... you pick a guy that high,. you expect more than average... of course dumping buck was a terrible mistake but thats beside the point

Kinlaw had some posters expecting far to much. I think I had my hopes for him at 3 sacks and my other hope was Buckners absence wouldnt be super glaring from our D. Neither were accomplished.
Still finishing as a top defense with the way things happened is a Win

Absolutely. And Kinlaw was a project player coming out so it's not like he won't improve a f**k ton this year. With real edge rushers and a full year of NFL experience. This kid should in theory explode
adding some players who want redemption is a plus. Keep the DL fresh.. i got a feeling this new DL will be a force

And my boy Verrett gonna be basking in pick City.

Should have been all-pro from the first snap or something something.

The Webzone:

Nick Bosa didn't just pass his physical on Tuesday, the 49ers defensive end is quicker than he's ever been.

That bears repeating: Bosa, who had nine sacks and 45 quarterback pressures in 2019 and was subsequently named the NFL's defensive rookie of the year, is firing out of his stance faster than he did that season.

That's due to both his intensive rehabilitation from the Sept. 20 ACL tear that scuttled his 2020 season and a strict new diet that trimmed his body fat to around 9 percent. The 49ers defensive end is still approximately 265 pounds, his weight when the 49ers drafted him No. 2 overall two years ago, but there's more lean muscle — perhaps an additional five pounds worth — and less fat, which is evident in his appearance.

Nearly everything Bosa and his older brother, Chargers defensive end Joey, do in the offseason — 10-yard bursts, shuttle runs, etc. — are timed. And in the last few weeks Nick Bosa's times have been faster than they've been in the past, Bosa confirmed through a team spokesman.

Man if we get a faster Bosa out there....mama mia...

I don't know who I have to pray to but I so badly want to see this team play healthy. Last two years were so tough with injuries, crazy we got as close as we did in 2019(just shows sometimes it's who the injuries are to and not the amount overall)

I refuse to expect serious contributions from Ford so I won't even think about him right now but if our DL can stay healthy...i just wanna see them ball out Bosa, Jones, Kinlaw, Armstead, Sosa, depth. Warner n Greenlaw behind them and hopefully we get good corner play from the corner playing along with JV and KW.

I love the start of camp...but last season has made me so pessimistic in getting my expectations up :(
Wasn't huge on kinlaw last year but I think Bosa makes him into a legit weapon. Add in Ford(lol yeah right) and we're absolutely stacked.

It's not that Bosa is an instant fix for him or anything. It's that you naturally expect leaps from eventually good DTs from year 1 to year 2. When you're talkin DT, it's not quite the same as coming in being asked to rush off the edge.

Kinlaw isin't a marginal talent or anything. They will help each other be legit weapons if everything gets going.

Kinlaw is already more physical and better against the run than Buckner was/is. His hands are extremely violent compared to almost all DTs in the NFL.

He just needs to work on his conditioning and move his feet more in pass rush situations. I don't think he'll ever be the pass rusher that Buckner is. But if he's making a stop on 3rd and 1 multiple times a game then he doesn't need to be the same caliber rusher.

I just believe Kinlaw will become a much better player as he continues to grow.. Reminds me a lot of Fletcher Cox. Let's hope he continues to trend upward with a better surrounding cast this season.

Can't believe you rooted so hard for the pick to be Q.Williams back in that draft 😎 😁

On a serious note though, Bosa's work ethic has been awesome. He's proven he's willing to put in the hard work and you know that has to set a high standard among everyone else on that side of the ball. Can't wait to see him have another great season.
