Seriously, I don't want a rematch with KC in the Super Bowl, NFL will just fix that s**t for Mahomes to win like they did last time. No way KC loses back to back Super Bowls. Only reason they didn't fix it last year for Mahomes is because Brady is the bigger darling of the NFL.
Joeys first two full seasons that he played we have gotten to the nfc championship.

I think this does occur to some extent or another. Not to the extent the people out there who try to say the final score was predetermined. But at the same time Mahomes having scrubs on the o-line didn't help matters either and they probably didn't need much "fixing" for the Chiefs to lose that one.

The NFL is definitely not fixed. The only thing that holds some truth is the "star" treatment at times, which is pretty much in every sport though. But no, if the NFL had it's way Pat would've won the SB last year. Not sure if Kolohe forgot, but Goodell doesn't like Brady lol. Plus, passing the torch to the next young super star is much profitable for the NFL.

There was a poster here who literally believed that every game was scripted, and the players and coaches were in on it as well.

Anybody remember who im talking about?

A good conspiracy would involve as few people as possible to minimize people talking. So, in this case it would be basically impossible to have players and coaches in on it.

Even having ALL the refs in on it would be close to impossible. So the only way to really impact the games is to have a few refs in on it (Maybe those ones get chosen for the big games), and maybe someone back in the NFL office. So even with that, it would be difficult to majorly impact a game, but I guess it could be nudged a little in the right direction.

I'm a Christian who actually believes some of the conspiracies in this world. But some people do get carried away. A friend on Facebook sent me something one time about how completely it was fixed and I basically looked at it and said nothing. The only thing that would even make me entertain such a thing was someone claimed that the Rams-Patriots Super Bowl score had to be 13-3 because Illuminati and occult numbers and symbolism. And Zuerlein sure hooked that field goal at the end ridiculously bad. I mean it wasn't even close and was kind of a chip shot.

But that said, everything would have to be coordinated to a "t". Goff threw an interception in the end zone or something like that. The players are still human. What if Gilmore drops it? Does Goff have to keep throwing up picks until one is actually successfully caught?

Pro wrestling is of course scripted and that's basically two guys (sometimes more) working out a script together. And they still mess things up. They get to the final result but they mess things up. Believing that 11 guys on both sides of the ball for a 60 minute game are going to be in perfect sync, or almost perfect sync, that's some pretty strong "faith". And they're playing the same game they've been playing since high school, if not before. High school wrestling, no one is DDT'ing, piledriving, or power bombing their opponent. So it's pretty drastically different and it is theatrical. Right down to wrestlers playing characters for entertainment aspect.

I mean I can see games being fixed. Maybe not every time but obviously there's money in it if you can do it. Point shaving scandals, the Black Sox in baseball, etc. But yeah.

I knew it was about to get weird when I read, "a friend on Facebook sent me".

Bosa about to wreck shop this Sunday. No idea how Rams OL is rated so high according to pff.
The NFL is far and away the top rated sport that there's no way they would risk fixing games. The public outcry would destroy trust and the league would lose it's popularity. Revenue from all the TV networks (and it's nearly all the major ones now) is enormous. The league has people that monitor any possible fixing of games. They aren't about to kill the golden goose.

The league knows the tendencies of certain officials and certain groups. One calls them tight. Another tends to let them play. Any deviance from that pattern is going to invite an investigation. That doesn't mean that officials are entirely impartial. They probably hav ehteir favorites too and may sometimes make a call base don that.

One or two calls can sometimes make a difference but most players and coaches live by the rule that if you play well enough it won't come down to one bad call.

I think the bolded does influence which crew officiates which games. It was known that the crew that did the SF/KC SB called fewer offensive holding calls when compared to their peers. I remember thinking, "that's not good", and it did end up playing a role in the game. Was it intentional by the NFL to assign that crew to the game? Only the league knows. Agree on the underlined.
