That wasn't the discussion. The discussion was how much he was gonna have to be paid

And if he gets paid this year, that'll have a tremendous impact.

Why would they when they just picked up his 5th year option

Then I totally misunderstood you. I thought you were implying he'd get a contract this year despite the option.

No I was answering when it comes time to extend him our baselines gonna be around what TJ Watt got

And you are correct, though it's more likely to be whatever the top of the market is at the time.

I want to pay the man. I don't want to make him the richest DL in the NFL. Not the same effin thing and you know it.

There's absolutely no chance he won't be that, his deal is 2 years away, Garrett will reset the market and then Bosa will get more than that, it's just the way this goes.

The alternative is don't draft great players!

Hey in 2 years, if Bosa performs as expected, I have zero issues with paying him more money than Watt pr Garrett. That's not what is being said. He wants to pay him more now and there isn't a reason to do so.

If we don't, someone will. He doesn't have to be the best. He is in the conversation. This isn't a Christian Kirk for 18-20 million type of situation.
s**t Aaron Donald will get a contract that will reset the market again. Then Bosa will probably top that

TJ Watts first year wasn't better than Nicks. Nick was injured his 2nd year. Nick was better than TJ watt his 3rd year in the pros.

Equitable 1st year. Arguably Nick had Buckner to take the pressure off.
3rd year? half a sack more and much fewer tackles? and 0 picks to TJ's 2? 1 PDs to TJ's 8? I'm not sure what you're basing that opinion on.

And 72 sacks to 24.5 Career. TJ has shown that he is consistent. We can't make that claim with Nick. Sure the injury isn't his fault, but it still impacts the storyline. TJ is the more proven player and has out performed Nick. He has earned the bigger paycheck, regardless of which player I like better.

so completely wrong.

Yup Bosa is in the same tier as Watt. I would say Bosa is even better than Watt vs the run

Why would they extend if they picked up the option? It's a procedural move, that way they don't lose the player in FA the next year or have to tag him, they'll extend both Nick & Deebo, yes I said it, Deebo isn't going anywhere, neither is Bosa, as for money, Bosa will get north of $30M, $100M+ GTD, $80M+ fully GTD, and he's worth every penny, just like if Deebo signs a similar deal to what AJ Brown did, he's worth every penny.

AB81 Rules!

I like the fact that the 49ers are waiting until they get rid of Jimmy's 27 million cap hit, so they can do the front loading thing for Deebo (and possibly Bosa). I love Paraag's front loading system that keeps the 49ers out of cap hell and cap inflexibility while still being able to get top of the line free agents like Trent Williams and Alex Mack.
