I wonder if he can play his way to not only being defensive player of the year, but maybe MVP as well if he has a couple more monster games. He is the key to the whole defense in my opinion, and with a rookie qb, we are going to relying on his production even more.

Bosa would need batted balls that he returns for TDs, HAS to break the sack record, more FF and recoveries, etc to even get a sniff at MVP. They really outta just make a QBOTY award and put an end to this farce of MVP voting.
Sack rate for the last 4 QB's on our schedule

Geno Smith- 7.0%
Taylor Heinicke- 5.9%
Derek Carr- 4.5%
Colt McCoy- 8.5%

This. Also he needs to miss a game with the defense falling apart. Showing he is THE key to the best D in the NFL.

Yeah until a player plays both offense and defense and is playing at an all pro level will they ever consider giving it to a lowly other position than QB.

Wasn't that the Atlanta game?

That was annoying but to be fair, we received a few favorable calls this game, so it's all good.

I don't really have context to that statistic - does that mean they get sacked more than average per drop back or less?
