Imagine if Hightower used our Special Teams Weapon...just once. One time.

I tried convincing myself that maybe we took him in the 4th because he has speed and we could use him on a fake punt once in awhile. But yeah...

Is he? Honest question...

That is ultimately up to Shanahan and not the special teams coach.

He's a little bit better then Pinion punting but on kickoffs it's not even close.
Wish had the second most kickoffs returned for over 1000 yards I think like 48 and Pinion had the second fewest 9 for like 200 yards.
The think the thought he's being coached to kick short is absurd. We are giving up like 23 yards a return so your telling me we are risking not only injury but the chance of them breaking a long one for an average of 2 yards field position, not likely.

Dont make me pull up the Pinion stats again.
Wish has been better than Pinion, and it isnt even worth debating. Pinion wasnt very good.

Kicking the ball right at the goalline is better than a touchback with today's rules. That isnt even debatable

There have been a lots of times when Mitch could've pulled it down and ran. I think we're saving it for the playoffs.

There's been a few kicks that have made me , but it seems, to me, that he mostly goes for the short return/easy to cover route.
At the end of the day, it never feels like he makes an impact on the game, either flipping the field or pinning the opponent deep. Whether he is calculating or not its all about results and that to me is not obvious.
He's top 5 in the league of punts downed inside the 20 percentage wise. A little under 50% of his punts are downed inside the 20.

He's also #9 in kickoff starting position.

I completely disagree but that's fine.
With the #2 defense in the league I'll take it at the 25 every time.

Avg starting position is 24.5 yardline after a kick. 9th best. Not the best but definitely not some huge issue you all are trying to make it out to be.

I would say a touchback is the safer option. Removing the risk of a touchdown, big return and injury. Saying it's not even debatable is just wrong. That's not even debatable.

So far he's been a disappointment when you consider his draft position...almost cost us the game yesterday.

Against Elite returners it is a point of concern.
I have a hard time forgetting what happened to us in our last Super Bowl appearance.
5 kick returns for 206 yards 41 yard average and a TD.
What if we have to play the saints again ? In our last meeting Deonte Harris had 5 returns for 155, 31 yard average with long of 51.
Maybe I worry to much. Lol
