Comparing Wish with an UDFA 4 x All Pro makes no sense.

You can't say he is only as good as an UDFA, in the same breath say he is not as good as a 4 x All Pro.

Make up your mind

Wasn't it you that compared them ?
And I think the point is you don't have to draft a punter that high to get a good one.

Can we compare Mitch to Jack Fox? Same draft year. Wasn't even on a NFL roster last year. And stating getting the same production from a 4th round pick as an UDFA isn't acceptable to some isn't being indecisive.
I have no problem with Wish - this year or last year with what he's showed. So he was drafted in the 4th, so what. The hit rate on 4th Rounders isn't so great. He's a good punter IMO. I'd like him to kick every KO into the back of the end zone as he has a strong leg...not sure what happens there sometimes unless they're trying to trap the other team into poor starting field position. One other area where Wish has been good: holding for Gould.

and Wish can play Mike in a pinch

I hate it when that happens. You needed to be closer to the scouts. Who ya got for the next draft?

is 2 yards worth drafting a punter in the 4th rather than signing a UDFA?

In a game of inches....could be. But there is so much more to the position than a simplistic metric like that. The niners are so defensive that shnouser cant imo bring as much to contribute than a more skilled punter. Hence the comparison many have to UDFA punters.

My point is he is performing, if he wasn't then have your whinge.

He is currently number 6 punter in the league for punting average.

49ers seen him as a low risk pick at round 4.

How many low risk picks outside of Wish at punter do you think they could have taken ?

It is a crap shoot, gamble.

Wish was not a gamble, he is as advertised.

Also ranks similar in nett yards gained. Higher in yards returned per returned punt. Well above average (top 10) for % inside 20.
His stats have improved this season.
Irief was right about spinning it back though. 1 blocked punt is not entirely on him.
Except for a few trick plays there aren't that many highlights from this position group this season. The league seems risk averse especially when the team is low on starters.

How does a punter get 203 pages?

Because he was drafted in the 4th round

To me this is easy.

Is Wish a good punter? Yes

Was he worth a 4th round pick? No

That may come in time, but let's be honest, we've made worse draft choices.

100% Ahkello, Joe Williams and Dante were much worst picks.

He was to SF, and i doubt they are regretting the pick.

Which in the end is all that matters.

Like you said, i think they like that 4th round pick more then a lot of the others.

Reuben Foster, maybe even Solomon Thomas could be a worse pick.
