Reuben Foster, maybe even Solomon Thomas could be a worse pick.

I don't blame the front office for either of those picks. Solly was considers the 2nd best defensive player in a draft with no real franchise QBs( this is what was believed back then). And Reuben was a great prospect in college that fell cause of off field questions after his first year though had them looking like geniuses. Then we'll we know how the story ends now but back then I don't think people questioned the picks. People questioned the commitment of Dante immediately same with Joe Williams and to a lesser extent Ahkello.

Could've used that 4th round pick to trade up a few spots and draft DK, instead of Jalen/Mitch. He probably would've given us a better shot at winning the Super Bowl then having Mitch as our punter. This is why a 4th is too valuable to use on a punter.
Nobody's gona be mad when he gets traded for a 3rd in his contract year. I know a stretch there.

Object is to draft well, use them on rookie contracts and let other teams break the bank buying them. See Buckner. See Kinlaw.

As long as you keep drafting well, you can let the expensive ones go and keep a sustained roster of good players.

Kind of like buying a new xbox series x a normal price and selling it for twice the amount. Becaise somebody has to have it now. Now you can go buy two.

But we had the 4th when DK was still available. So....

Not recouping even the 4th for Mitch. No ones trading that much for a punter.

Non of this justifies spending a 4th on a punter. Especially Mitch.

I disagree, Michael Dickson was worth a 4th, and Mitch will have been if he reaches that level, he isn't there yet.

Don't forget we traded down first, we likely don't come away with Greenlaw otherwise.

FO knew they wanted a punter as they didn't want to pay Pinion, targeted Mitch and got some extra draft capital

Definitely an overlooked element of this discussion.

And missed out on DK in the process. Arguably one of the best already. Ended up in Seattle, which is pouring salt on the wound.

Dickson is fantastic, but no punter is worth a fourth. Punter doesn't impact winning enough (except when they're horrible), as seen in there trade/market value. Many good ones found for much less.
Not intentionally trying to be obnoxious but the pick is in, 49ers selected a punter, right or wrong, for better or for worse.
Get over it and move on.
Please.

Of course you want us to move on. Your name says it all. Another tru-blue nationalist. Doubt you said the same thing in the solly thread.
No ones forcing you to follow this thread. Feel free to move on.
