Very few returners have gone far after catching it. So maybe they are mainly concentrating on the catch rather than running it and hence making the "hard catch". A lot of variables such as wind direction, humidity, altitude, long snapping, turf, temperature, the vibe, confidence, the position of the sun, etc etc but mostly its the vibe.

Don't forget rotation of the earth in that calculation

And lunar orbit/tides. Lol.

LOL. I was wondering how long it would take you. It's nice to see you care. There are always Red White and Blue colored glasses which can be bought for the right price......as it should rightly be. At the end of the day we are all just 49er fans who want to see the team be awesome....and if an green and gold dude can contribute then a few of us may cheer a little harder.
Actually I'm happy for the Mexican guy to be part of the Niners Journey too. So many great stories are around if you dig deep enough.

And not blindly shilling for Aussie players without merit will definitely help you become a better niner fan. As an Aussie myself, I couldn't care less how many Aussies are on the Niners as long as they win. Not gonna be one of those who trash talks American Nationalism while blind to my own.

Btw, gotta admit green and "gold" is one ugly combination. Doesn't hold a candle to purple and gold. What were we thinking?

I enjoy and admire the nationalism and respect given to service folk in general. Some traditions are fun to be around.
I think a few fans here will shill for their college alumni too.
Can't help but cheer a little harder when players from other countries or from tough neighborhoods break down the door to the NFL

Warriors fan?

Eeeeeeeewww
Mitch has been used more to kick extremely high punts with little or no run back instead of really long 63 yarders or 75 yarders. The length was really nice to see in PS.

Mitch has trick kicks in his bag, and maybe the wobbler which comes down like a duck with only 1 wing has been used once. They make it really tough on PR to field the ball. He also has a "grubber" on KOs, that runs along the ground and then hops 10 yards in the air….tough to field those also. Problem has been HC/ST coach have NOT called for either of those Punts or KOs.

Mitch has excellent speed yet he NEVER has been asked to run a fake punt. Again, this is Coaching choice, and my bet is KYle is so wrapped up in OCing and learning DCing that he just hasn't had time to devote to ST. He got our ST coach motivated this PS, for first time ever. Maybe in the future he will think about fake punts or Wobblers when on 4th down or grubber on KOs. Man i would love to see that used in a game.

KOs…Wish has been sniped at for not kicking ball out of EZ on KOs. Well, if you note, many teams are aiming for the 1 or 2 yd line on KO, so they have to be returned. When returned from the 1 or.2 yd Line, most of the time the KO is NOT returned to the 25, and many times it doesn't get past the 20. That isn't a fault of Wish's leg , it is what kyle wants. Watch on opening day and you will see a lot of teams kicking to the 1 or 2 yd line…and they Dont' generally come out to the 25, let alone the 20.

Biggest move we need to make with Wish…is to get Kyle more involved in STs, and thinking about the different ways Wish could be used.

As for bihcting and moaning about a 4th rd pick…some pages back someone made a list of 4th round picks over the last 20 yrs. When you examine that list it is pretty obvious that in those 20 yrs there were only two other picks that were better than Wish's. 4th rd pick. So "wasted pick"? Fuggedaboudit.

I don't think your using the term nationalism correctly here. Not sure what "service folk" have to do with this thread. Are u saying Mitch served? Also, shilling for anything and anyone that comes from your nation is quite different than a college.

It really would be fun to see a fake with Mitch. Maybe the time it takes to practice such things is not worth it considering the limited practice time available? In any event, I wonder how the probabilities change when you have a punter with wheels? Kind of an extension of the analysis that goes into high school teams going without a punter. You are probably right about Kyle's focus being elsewhere.

Regarding the 4th rounder... I looked up the punter salaries and the dozen highest paid guys average around $3 million so there has been a pretty big monetary savings with Wish. That is worth something.

Maybe not. Could totally have read the room wrong. The way my US friends talk about college is usually more enthusiastic than friends at home talk about Aus/NZ. The nationalism/service respect/traditions are a vibe that is totally foreign to many growing up in modern Oz. And that is an attraction to sports like the NFL. So when some one breaks the door down to benefit from that lifestyle on the big stage it is a big deal. You also see a bigger perceived success of Aussies in Movies/Golf/Tennis/Basketball/Business. That's why so many will cheer harder. The good thing is things even out over time and flashes of Haynes die off and the real stars like Mialata and the ex AFL punters like Mitch take their well earned place. And fans from Oz either fade away or learn the game of NFL. You may immerse yourself as a fan but you cant forget your roots.
I can understand your point of view since many Americans I know don't care about anything more than what you can do to make their world better. I am the same. Could be misguided but to respect and be respected in return is something the western world loves.
Go Niners.
