But I talked to [wide receivers coach] Wes Welker who did it his whole career and was one of the most trusted guys and he tells me that Mitch's ball is the hardest he's ever had to catch. The way it can knuckle, the way it can move. Especially when you get in some elements where it's wind and at night. Don't know which thread I posted it in, but I wondered if anyone had film of the trajectory of the ball on the way down. My guess was a "wobbler", which comes down like a one winged duck. But, I also posted if kyle did call for that on those two muffed punts, he sure wasn't going to spill the beans.

Damage is already done, as all PR that we play coming up, are already thinking about the wobbler and are trying to prepare for it. Bet my lunch money PR guys are already psyched out, advantage 9ers

What I've liked about Wish from the time he became this team's punter is just how every game he shows up and is at the very least solid - many times he's been very good-to-excellent.

I can't remember the last time he's completely shanked a punt off the side of his foot for like 20 yards and thus, immediately given the opponent decent field position. Can't remember a time where he's fumbled a snap. Unless I'm forgetting something, he hasn't had any blatant errors like this. I also appreciate that as a holder on FGs & PATs, he's been flawless.

Regarding KOs, it would be great IMO if he would kick every one through the end zone to not give a chance at a return and force teams to go the full 75 yards for a TD.

Glad he's this team's punter with what he brings overall.

If he does the correct run up as you saw on Sunday he can kick them through the end zone. I don't buy for one second Hightower isn't telling him to kick it short in certain situations.

I've always wondered about that...purposely having the KO go high and short/inside the five to try and tackle them before they reach the 20 (or even less). I get the strategy if that's what's happening sometimes...just don't like taking that chance with the way this ST has been not great in coverage (plus the injury possibilities on returns).

Spot on! Funny how many apologists there are for this guy.

And when I look at LottDMontanaO's solid post on Wish below I have to chuckle with how many people go out of their way to be triggered by this guy. It started with his selection in the draft when people had that reaction and from that point forward they made up their mind that if there was anything that he did that was less than HOF worthy he was going to be a waste of a pick.

I get that you typically don't draft punters in the fourth round. Again though, and I don't study/haven't studied every player drafted between him and Greenlaw but I don't see anyone we should have taken/missed out on instead. Again, Tony Pollard might have been nice. But almost all of our running backs get dinged and that's the position many complain about as well because "Kyle can find a running back anywhere."

Big picture, he's been more than acceptable as our punter.

I can't even imagine what people will be like if well down the years Trey is anything less than a first ballot Hall of Famer with all the capital we gave up just to have a chance to get him. It will probably be ugly.

Haha yup. You're so right. Us "no names" are clearly not as smart as you and your amazing copy and paste skills.

If you draft someone in the 4th round and they end up making a solid contribution to the team for 5 or 6 years I would call a pretty good return on investment

Exactly... I copied Wes Welker and the no names are arguing against him...

Good job

Edit:

Truly truly great work

Way to go for at the poster rather than the content of my post which I'm guessing is why your PBM. And you I'm guessing it's cause you can't argue against what I said cause once Boyd was back there receiving punts they had no more problems with Wish's kicks. So go back under your bridge

I did no such thing. I was simply saying a person who has absolutely no impact on anything in football at all(you)is telling a guy who has caught Wish's kick that he was wrong. It was a stupid, stupid argument, I was not going after your self at all. I'm a no name too don't be be so paranoid. You are literally making your argument out of thin air. These fumbles have happened more than once. Wish had been known for his wobbly kicks. For you to act like you know any different makes your stance hysterical. I mean, how TF could you possibly know? Lol

It's depressing that I had to go find this for whatever reason. I will never understand this place and how posters just pull arguments up out of thin air.

Bengals special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons.

"The first punt he mishandled I think it wasn't a very good punt, and I think the rotation on it was off and was something different than what we've seen in a long time.
