Think of it this way.

2 years ago the board was stoked to get Joe Williams RB with a 4th round pick from Utah. He was seen as a great pick.

He didn't play in 1 regular season game I believe.

This year we take a guy from the same college Utah who in all likelihood is going to have a far greater impact on the 49ers as a probable starter for a number of years ahead and the pick is being criticised.
Because they probably coulda got a good Punter later/udfa

Then why did the Pats trade up for a punter in round 5?

lol John Lynch saying "mate" sounded like the equivalent of a dorky dad trying to use ebonics.

Maybe their team is a little better.... Maybe they aren't trying to fill voids at crucial positions....
3rd starter we got in this rookie class, that's pretty awesome dude. Successful draft IMO. Filled 3 more spots of need in this offseason.

Lol. Take a closer look. They have holes everywhere.

Lol. I guess I meant 60+ yarders. With 2 other Aussie punters averaging over 50ypp last year in the NFL I expect more. He is of the same ilk.

he has the highest career average in college of those guys

Didn't he finish 6th best all time in the NCAA? With all the trick plays they do in college compared to NFL it's a wonder they can keep it so high.

The thing is that there were two coveted punters and two teams made moves to get them.

You can whinge about other positions being more important, but if those players were that good they wouldn't be available in round 4.

Pinion got drafted in the 5th because he had a powerful leg, but that's all he had. He was average for most of his time here and wasn't trash, but it did frustrate people the way he outkicked his coverage or his inability to pin teams deep without it going into the endzone. The shanks also didn't help.

Wishnowsky seems like he has both an iron foot and can directional punt with the best of them. His athleticism is also helpful and hopefully Shanny green lights him to take off any time he sees the coverage team ignoring his ability to run by leaving a gaping hole for him to run through. Hekker only does it a handful of times each season, but coverage teams can't cheat because they know he's capable getting an easy first down. That's very valuable skill a punter can have.
outkick his coverage? What does that mean?

Punting far without adequate hangtime allowing the returner to cleanly field the ball and pick up a head of steam before the coverage team can get to him

Kicker: Last season proved several times that good kickers are NOT dime a dozen.
RB: We acquired plenty of experienced RBs.we need them, therefore we have to pay the price.
Punter: Not a fan of the pick either. However, that guy from Seattle proves last season that very good punters are worth the money or a high pick.
FB: Juice is THE fb Shanahan wanted and needed.

This guy, Oscar whatever, is blacklisted now.

Look Americans should not try to do Australian accents. It just does not work, unless you are Robin Williams he came mighty close but no one else has.

As for the Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi, just don't do that either. It was cute they did it here but generally it is what the bogans do - like those really deep wood hillbilly deliverance banjo playing types but the Australian equivalent.

This guy Mitch is the real deal and he will limit the damage when we are out of field goal range and keep them pinned within their ten. That is why Lynch, Shanahan and York are pumped.
Historically Speaking, this guy is the best punter in the history of college football. Being that he is the only player to ever be nominated for the Ray guy award three years (winning one of the years, in 2016). Well worth a fourth rounder if you ask me if he plays to that level which won't be that hard for him
